Terra would be overrun by Daemons from the Webway, and the Emperor would almost certainly succeed in whatever His goals were (whether turning humanity to Chaos or simply ruling it while under the eyes of Chaos or something else). Humanity pretty much wouldn't have a chance. Too much is invested in the Emperor by the Imperium at this point.

The emperor refused worship. I think that he had to use some very tough love working to beat chaos it seems he was gearing up the human race to be ready but in the end all that he could hope for was a stalemate
