Dude, i'm one of the younger gamers at my local club and I play all the older guys, i vs'ed the kids my age once then they were too immature and you'll have to start organising games with the older games if you do want to play, and if you know the rules and are mature playing one of them then the rest will give you a chance too.

I agree, when I was younger, I found that most adults who played were very reasonable individuals who were open to let anyone play.

Now that I'm older (well, 19) I always try to make sure that the younger members of the club are able to get games in with people other than their immediate peers (even if it is just offering them a game with me), so that they experience the game in a wide array of ways.

I...uh...what? I imagine they all run spess muhreens and IG, and crappy lists at that.

Anyways, yeah, it sounds like they're extremely immature. Instead of playing with them, spend more time making your army sexy, and find a nicer location a little farther away that you can go to a little less frequently.

Just walk in your club clad in blood drenched robes rip one of the imperial scums arms off then just laugh and rise it above your head.

Now they wont call your boring haha.

But on a more serious note you are probly better avoiding that group and only playing once a month because id rather have one good game a mounth then 2 bad ones that put my off the hobby and them walking out in the middle of a game well thats just not on.

I've seen this happen. I ran an RTT once and by the pairings on round 2 one SW player was seeded against another player who also had SWs. One of them actually foreited the game and refused to play because SWs would never fight another SW army.

I don't socialize with bigots. If the only way I could ever play 40k is by socializing with bigots or just ignorant people I would stop playing 40k opposed to subjecting myself to being associated with the type of people you describe.

I would also tell the store owner why I am leaving his establishment to never return... Because I don't associate with people with disgusting behavior and do not patronize establishments who foster that type of environment.

Problem solved.

This. To be blunt, it sounds like you're a bit on the young and immature (not meant as an insult, merely a case of "not quite there, yet, as is natural") side, yourself. There are any number of ways to resolve this dilemma, some of which are more "mature" than others. Honestly, though, it all comes down to whether you consider the effort worthwhile. If I was only comfortable playing with my peers, I'd man up and confront them, looking elsewhere if they proved to be unrepentant pricks. If this is more than a schoolyard squabble between children and it's not simply a matter of the issue having snowballed due to inaction, I don't imagine the older players would turn you away, on principle.

I find this hard to believe as true tbh.

Have you stomped them so hard in past games perhaps that their only defense now is to call you gay and avoid playing you? If that's the case then they actually have a good strategy going on.

One of our friends called it quits because my brother put two Leman Russes down in 3rd edition. He said if he didn't rework his army to not include 2 of them, he wouldn't play him. He was terrified of the S8 AP3 pie plates and flat out would not fight two of them. This was coming our groups TFG who had a habit of tailoring lists to be a prick. The guy was in his 20's as well when this happened. This sort of thing does happen and is not restricted to the young.

Put your Chaos Dreadnauts in a sock, and start swinging.

Wow, that is horrible. It's almost the opposite of a club. What do the other members do when this happens? Just not pay attention? I'd talk to the club officers about it, it's totally out of line.

If nothing happens, then move on, find new friends. Better, find new friends, go to that club, and play games with the new guys, and tell the chaos haters to sod off.

If OP is much older then the kids hes trying to play with maybe they simply dont want to hang around/play someone much older then them.

I remember being 12-13 and not wanting to play older gamers me and my friends just found it creepy.

In my old games store, one of my favorite opponents was this lad who was about 15/16, he had such a great attitude to every game he played it was always refreshing.

He was like me, didn't learn everything about every model in every faction but had a good grasp and did it for fun whereas most the other WM/H players at the time were proper rules lawyers, and this lad ended up beating one of these proper tournament builder guys (who won all of our FLGS tourneys) and was just happy he won, let alone the fashion and who he won against.

Just ask one of the older guys one day (try and find the friendliest one) if you could play him next time you're up, pre arrange your battle, if he has a good time he'll be more than happy to talk you up to everyone else.

For those wondering this is 100 percent true.

I will try and organise a game with the adults and all the kids are my age 14-15.
I am not immature like them.
They are all friends, so they tease me because im not in their circle and i have not won a good game in months!
They always make alliances to trash me and win. Also since they are the ones laughing the adults think that we are all just having fun and i can't report them because they wont get told off and my time there will just get worse.
One adult has seen this happen and just says to ignore them and one day they teased me about taking abaddon the despoiler so much i have not played him since.

I will be going to the new club to see how it turns out and i will give my current club one more try.

I cant write it on dakka without getting banned again but I would suggest that you be offensive and rude as possible if they have shown you no respect then you owe them nothing.

A starting point would be that they play marines (real fething original guys) I would rather be beaten to a pulp then lets some idiots think they were getting away with hassling me.

My life rules are the following be cool and respectful to everyone and if they cant return the favor then feth em they dont deserve any mercy I will got straight to the thing that Il know they are self conscious about and wear it the feth out. Just because we are involved in a nerdy hobby is no reason to leave ones balls at the door.

Is there not a committee and chairperson to talk to?

Calling people "gay" is childish, antisocial and does the club no credit. It also sounds like bullying to me, which here in the UK could see the Police and school involved, not sure if its the same in the US though. Surely there is a club charter etc?

I would front up to them very loudly and call them out on the stupidity. If that fails, call across the chairperson and demand a meeting with the committe, you and them.

If all else fails, tell them where to go and find people locally online and start gaming 1-on-1.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I think the "club" should be named and shamed. Call out the adults via this site and see if any of them deserve the name. It sounds like its obvious to the adults whats happening but they are turning a blind eye, which is cowardly, especially as many will be parents themselves. The gutless turds.

Probably work

You say nothing. No need to add fuel to the fire. You smile and remain unnervingly quiet, in spite of what they say. You bust out your list, quietly and politely play, only talking to describe your actions. If they complain about your terminators, you say nothing and smile more. If they threaten to leave the game, you suggest that you're counting that as a forfeiture. In this game, you're bringing your nastiest, cheesiest, most broken thing you can. I'm thinking 3x3 oblits, double lash spam, the works. You want to thunderstomp them. You NEED to thunderstomp them.

Afterwards, you pack up, still saying nothing. Finally, you tell them that you're "surprised such an army of was able to do such a number on them." THEN, you go play with the big kids.

Disclaimer: My methods are not mature and may result in you getting punched in the face by immature brats. I hate to suggest fighting fire with fire, but when it's the only message understood, then you have to communicate on a level they will understand. The reasonable thing to do would be to go tell one of the adults that those guys suck, and ask politely if you can get a game in. Be prepared to be far more mature than usual, as, if things are as segregated as you say they are, you will be judged on this game.

Sounds like the guys that you are playing with are pretty lame. Why do they have a problem with chaos. because its an older codex that is suffering from codex lag. Chaos is one of the fluffiest armies for a imperial player to play against. AFTER all, without chaos attacking the imperium, the imperium would likely have crushed all opposition and there would not even BE a game anymore because all of the galaxy would be unified under the emperors banner. sounds like the kids you have to play with are weak sauce.

I can only see two reasons why they would think chaos is "gay". 1) and this goes without saying.... they are immature little twerps. or 2) they dont think chaos is powerful enough to merit playing against. Try feilding a couple of sorcerers with the lash, vidicator, defiler, some oblits. march their little plastic imperial girly men into blast template shapes and remove them from the table with a single shot. rinse, repeat.

Pestilence Provides.

There's nothing wrong with a 14-15 year old playing games with "older" people... I mean I'm 28 and as are most of the people I play with and there was a kid at one of the clubs who routinely played against my friends and myself and that kid was about 11-13.

I dunno, I remember being younger and watching adults play warhammer and wanting to learn. I think as a younger player you can learn a lot by playing with the older guys... its not like you're asking them to come over for xbox on the weekend - you guys are meeting at a store/club and share a similar hobby, does it matter if you're 15 or 50? Not really, as long as you're respectful.

I simply wouldn't play with the immature gakkers. Also, playing against the older guys, chances are they are better than the younger crowd that are grieving you, so the harder opponents you play, the better you will get . If you want an ice breaker, just walk up to a table of older guys, start talking to a few that aren't playing and just say "those guys are a waste of time, can i play with you guys?" and gesture to the younger guys. Give you something to vent/talk about with the older guys , cause trust me, we DO talk about the younger , more immature players who are just dicks and roll our eyes at them

From reading this thread I kinda get the impression that maybe you are kinda bringing this upon yourself a bit. If there is a group of idiots, that tease you unrelentingly, and make you feel bad, then why do you keep trying to play games with them? As an above poster said, have some self respect and stand up for yourself. That doesnt mean go nuts and start yelling, or trying to beat the crap out of people, but it does mean to acknowladge the fact that these are not people that you want to associate with. The reason they keep dogging on you, is because you keep coming back for more, and I am sure that they can see that their actions are getting you riled up, which is exactly what they want. If I were in your situation, after the first rude comment, I would have just packed my crap up, told them that you are there to play a game and have a good time, and that their insults would not be tolerated. I would then not even attempt to play a game with them, or converse with them, until an apology was given. If there are others in your group to play games with, dont go tattling that so and so made you feel bad, but instead just try and get to know them so you can have others to play games with. If that doesnt work out, then try the other club. What it all boils down too, is do whatever you need to do to be happy. You have the power to change your trajectory, noone else can do it for you.

I am just imagining you as some poor puppy, that not matter how badly he is beaten by his master, he just keep coming back for more. Stand up for yourself man, and realize that some people just arent worth your time.

Have you looked into other places to play? Or explained to the 'adults' that the kids are too immature to have an enjoyable game with and that you would like to play with them?
