Necrons have superior FTL to the IoM. Not sure how people have not seen that plain as day in the codex. There slower travel only illuminates how much superior the webway is to FTL. The dolmen gates simply allowed for rapid attacks in the later stages of the war in heaven. Fighting the Eldar/Old Ones for hundreds of years without FTL is comedy gold though, so keep thinking that! Or Imotehk escaping Imperial vessels! Or a docking yard that randomly fires ships across the galaxy into stars or planets!

Yes!

During his self-imposed exile trip into the deep dark void of nothingness between galaxies, the Silent King (ruler of the entire necron race) saw the Tyranids coming. He then raced back to the galaxy (according to Coa without FTL lol) and arrived in time to prepare as many worlds as he could before the bulk of the Nids show up.

Which is why the Necrons would be, as the codex directly states, completely fethed without the Dolmen Gates, right?

Like how the Imperium is without those nifty Dolmen Gates, right?

Oh...

Necron FTL without the Dolmen Gates sucks, as per the codex (Yes I am aware the codex contradicts itself with gak like the Silent King making it back to the galaxy obviously without use of a Dolmen Gate, but that's just about as idiotic as Grey Knights being 100% pure and Purifiers being even more pure than Grey Knights, this type of stupid gak is to be expected).

Wowsers! re-read that and you're correct! But it also highlighted a massive factor.

Necrons don't need to be near a Webway portal to use a Dolmen Gate, they simply open it and walk through then head to their destination. Meaning that if they wanted to put a Necron Armada near Terra, it would be as simple as opening a Dolmen and starting the the invasion!

I will concede they don't have Inter Drives anymore, re-reading that entry certainly highlighted a flaw, but the fact that they can open Dolmen Gates and walk instantly around the galaxy, puts their mobility on par with Eldar/Dark Eldar. I will certainly accept that as a substitute!

In all you Necron faping you failed to realize several factors:

Even if Necrons hav acces to Webway it's pointless.

-Webway can detect when these gates breach it and automatically close it's exit. So Necrons have only several seconds before gate close.

-Most Webways are broken and in chaotic state now. It is almost impossible for Necrons to get around, much like Humans without Astronomicon.

-Almost all Webway is controlled by Eldar now, giving Necron further more trouble then usual.

-Back when Necrons "controlled" those gates and had access to Webway the Warp was clean. Now, what do we have in Warp in 41'st millennium? Hm....oh yeah, gakload of Daemons and Heretics alike, and Draigo. Making a Webway even more difficult for Necrons to use ( you nver know when you may hit a Daemon army )

Yeah, I think they wanted to get rid of traveling wherever they want at post-light speeds without using the warp in the new fluff.

First off Coa, I don't fap to any faction besides Tau.

Second, you are trying to put goggle vision on me! Check it out dude! If you have the ability to open a Dolmen Gate between galaxies (Silent King) and can return to our galaxy. The Dolmen Gate is obviously stable enough to transport troops inside of it then out shortly after.

This means, that they could open a gate, hop inside, then hop out like the Eldar without the need for webway gates. Sounds pretty win to me man. I mean yeah, it's not stable, but it's a better option then going to hell and waiting for the nightmares to become reality.

Depends on how long those gates remain open, I suppose.

The individual Necron units still need to walk through it at one end, in physical space, and then reappear at a different point on the other side in physical space. If you're trying to move an army, but it closes after the first 10 guys walk through it... well, that's not much of a force in the AO.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

So you (Coa) disagree that the Webway is a better mode of transportation then the Warp? Sure it may take a while to get somewhere if no Webway Gates are nearby, but it is still faster and overall safer then the Warp.

Especially for super-psychics, such as the Eldar. Who, according to you, inhabit most of the Webway, which in of itself is wrong, as the Eldar inhabit Craftworlds and Maiden worlds. The Dark Eldar inhabit the Webway.

I am not disagreeing, I am just sating that it is not safe, the paragraph in Necron codex say that Necrons can't use it that often because of the problems I added up there.
But it is still better to risk to lose half your force in the Webway by Eldar/Dark Eldar/Daemons then spend 50 years until next planet ( liek Crons ).

This is all nice but it is a shame that same paragraph contradict your theory of "safe travel" by things I added up there. NEcrons rarely use it because it is not safe and they can lose entire army's in the process.
And Tomb King took ship and leave, not webway. Read codex better next time.

Simple, no, it's in their very nature to keep fighting, regardless of the opponent.

First of all, they don't have the required attention spans for this kind of galactic plotting.

Secondly, why would they destroy their own sport?

This is right except for the IoM comment. In most cases, a handful of Marines from one chapter is more than enough for most jobs. In the case of Armageddon, a ton of Guardsmen and about 3 (IIRC) chapters put a big dent in Ghazzies numbers. So, they were about 2 of the IoMs forces, imagine what every single one of it's forces applied itself. I think that the Inertia-less drive retcon and being replaced with Webway travel is one of the biggest pieces of face palming bs ever written. (To the extent I whited out the Dolmen gates in my codex and wrote: INERTIA-LESS DRIVE)

and oh yeah, if the Orks got together, how the hell would that be grimdark?

Ah..the old IOM fanboy answer

You realise that if you exterminatus a planet YOU've lost it too? Even if you could re-terraform it it would take millenia.

Given that the IOM is getting beaten back planet by planet as it is, exterminatus is the dumbest way to settle an argument in most conflicts.

In any case, it's not foolproof There have been documented cases of things surviving an exterminatus, IIRC, and i'd not be shocked if Ork spores could in some circumstances

Its possible that a massive WAAAAAAAGH could be started to overrun much of the imperium, but theres no way every Ork would Unite for the cause.
You would need to convince Ghazzy, Nazdreg, Wazdakka, The arch arsonist, And overfiend of octarius all to hit the same place at once, and even then theyd still be stopped.
