This is sweet! I love how you conveyed the glossy look of the covenant through un-converted tau. You should paint up a piranha like a ghost!

This is un-glossed, I'm probably going to put a gloss-finish on their armor and guns.

It was a book then a movie, I haven't read the book but have heard that the book had more details and sci-fi stuff than the movie. The movie however is like a year in the life of Imperial Guardsmen.

I agree, however nearly all representations of elites outside of the actual games (Action-figures, Mega Bloks, Clix) include purple elites as the standard/default variant, purple is the color most attributed to the Covenant, it just wouldn't look proper to have an army of rainbow Tau and then have all of their vehicles to be a separate color all together when the physical styles of the Tau and their vehicles are so similar (Table-top perspective).

probably a kasrkin, Spartans aren't good analogues to spacemarines. I did want to make a UNSC IG army after I started this but there's no way I'm giving up the IGs I'm already so attached to.

I could have a Kroot Shaper holding a kasrkin, though. Will try!

Like I said previously, I am not doing much (if anything) to make the models look any more like the real thing than they already do, aside from the paint-jobs.

Update coming on Presidents Day or sooner.

It should include at least 1 complete squad of Fire Warriors, 1 Devilfish, 1 Crisis suit, and at least 1 Stealth suit.

Great to see an update! These look pretty good!

You can't really tell from the pics but the stealth suits have a silver dry-brushing that makes it look like the suits are half-stealthed.

A quick tip might be to water down your paints. I've noticed that these look a bit thick.

You're talking about the stealth suits, right? The pics didn't really do them justice, mostly everything's looking smooth in person.

Sorry folks, I've been pretty lazy as far as painting and updating this thread for the last month or so. The waste of time is not entirely in vain, I have been stripping and repainting about 3000 points of IG...

I must admit how impressed I am by your guard army.
