Until a month ago were Necrons marines?

Melissia wrote:People who claim Sisters are marines are ignorant or trolls. Sisters are not Marines in the same way that Eldar are not Orks.

To play devil's advocate, to my knowledge Sisters generally use a lot of melta and flamer weapons mounted in Rhinos backed by a 48" range exorcist tank. Sisters are poor in close combat, Sisters excel at short range combat. Sisters make faith tests to see if their powers function. All Sisters of Battle have an invulnerable save.

I play a Tzeentch marines army. I use a lot of melta and flamer weapons mounted in Rhinos backed by a 48" range predator tank. Thousand Sons are poor in close combat, Thousand Sons excel at short range combat. Thousand Sons make psychic tests to see if their powers function. All Tzeentch marines have an invulnerable save.

You could point to the Uriah assassin 'deathstar' as something different I guess, although Thousand Sons can take a Daemon Prince as a close combat HQ.

This comparison amuses me in my head.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

Actually GK have to be psychic before they are inducted. Fluff wise they get extra psychic power from the emprah, but they have some to start with. Most grey knight inductees are pulled from the black ships.

But I would say that all the various chapters and legions are marines, including GK and CSM. I wish that they had updated daemon hunters instead of making it C:GK, but they did, and now we have anotheer marine codex.

Also, sisters are not marines, the difference between T3 and T4 is huge, not to mention that every marine is capable in CC, even devestator squads are better than any sisters squad. SM are the kindof the definitive faction, and the measuring stick against which all other factions are compared.

Everything but sisters from my point of view.

All those armies have the same set of units, usually only differing by weapon choices:
- Regular marines with one or two heavy weapons
- Marines with 4+ armor which are cheaper and have different(worse) weapons and/or rules
- Marines with jump packs
- Elite marines with lots of weapon options and two attacks base
- A marine with psychic powers
- A marine who can fix vehicles
- Heavy support marines with many heavy weapons
- Terminators
- Rectangular-box-on-legs dreadnoughts
- Rhino, Razorback, Predator
- Land Raider

Sure, some bring daemons, henchmen, wolves or special HQs along, but that doesn't make them quit being marines.

Sisters of battle have different statlines, explicitly have different models doing what regular marine models would do and aren't even marines by fluff.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

All loyalists and chaos. Simply put the Space Marine books are Space Marine books.

Those who said SoB though... I guess IG are marines too cause they have vehicles, carapace armour and Bolters.
In fact they're just codex Scouts of the Space Marines.

I feel it's defined at least in part by the MEQ statline, so S3 T3 I3 are enough to knock Sisters out. They die faster to medium strength guns, and they simply cannot do things like smash Guardsmen or Fire Warriors with a charge. And They Shall Know No Fear is also a big core as to how marines play, so I contend Chaos has fallen far enough from their brothers as well. That special rule and statline pretty much define MEQ, so I would say all loyalist marines count.

One unbreakable shield against the coming darkness, One last blade forged in defiance of fate.
