I really like the armor. His head and arm seem a little like on clean lines but really like the armor for possible storm troopers. I'm looking forward to how this turns out.

It most certainly is NOT.
The plates are what draw me to the model. If I was considering Greatcoat models for the Traitor Guard army I mentioned, I'd choose your armor plated chests over all others if the quality and price were competitive. Without the plates, you'd have to be of equal or lesser cost AND superior quality.

The plates are WHY I like these models.

I hope your printed one, though, does not indicate the quality we can expect.

That render of the character looks very nice, but you definitely need the finished product to be sharper than the printed render appears to be in those pix. The render's nice and sharp, but the detail in the print looks to soft...

Apart from the face, what details you think should be addressed?

It's not really saying "Greatcoat" to me right now. maybe due to the lack of, you know, legs.

Cool heads, though.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

I like the armour but I think the model is pretty chunky especially next to that elysian

The definition looks ok, but the surface looks very rough.

I would keep them, but lose the rivets. Instead it will look like they are molded on to the breastplate. Alternatively, lessen the number of rivets. Limit them to 3 or 4 rivets per plate maximum. They aren't large enough or do they require the over-engineering associated with the number of rivets on there now.

Depends on the weapons,I think they would work good as Veteran or Stormtroopers for some Valhallans.Especially if you could add some gasmasks,Backpacks and other personal equipment.

Keep the feedback coming guys but please be patient. We haven't had chance to really finish the figure yet.

I hadn't anticipated this exchange for another few weeks or so.

Which one? The commander or basic trooper?

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

I'm referring to the trooper but neither one is completely finished yet. As shown in the renders that were in the OP, the trooper still needs a bunch of work.

Just clarifying for folks. thanks!

Personally they look good, but price to model ratio is my deciding factor.

Trying not to sound like a jerk, but... most of them.
Look at the model compared to the render. The lines on the render are so flat and the angles are so sharp. It looks incredible. The details on the models look rounded and "soft."
Perfect example: Compare the bottom of the model's greatcoat to that of the render. The render is all flat and sharp angles, but the model's coat almost seems to "tuck under," rather than end definitively.
The left hand looks a bit off, too.

The cuffs on the sleeves and the shoulderpad do it, too. They're more rounded than sharp. In all honesty, it's the look of the render that got my attention, but the actual model wouldn't get a second look.

I also agree with insaniak that the surface looks rough.

Of course, I mean that all constructively. Not trying to come down on you.

I'd love to get a better look at that powerful fist. I can't tell if it lives up to the render or not.

I'm from the future. The future of space

I think the stark light source in the render is giving people a false impression of what it's actually like. Then when you see the print out and the contrast between the shadows and the raised portions just isn't there, it doesn't look as good.

I'd lower the contrast on your renders, and if you can, give the printed miniature a black wash and while it's still wet, take the wash off all the raised surfaces with a clean brush.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

No need to apologize, I expect & appreciate that kind of feedback from this forum.

In a nutshell, you're correct. I've been looking over the print and many of the edges are not as sharp as they should be. This is primarily around the armor plates but it is present elsewhere too. Some of it is a personal preference, in my opinion the edges on the sleeve for example won't be as sharp as on the armor plating.

Some of it is also attributable to the way the model is rendered, it's been lit to show off the edges clearly.

Addressing the edges will be added to the list of refinements as we continue to finish up the model and those changes will then be translated to the commander figure as well.

One thing that I would suggest is to try and make some of the edges larger and more pronounced on the 3d model. With shadows/lighting, the side edges of the armor where they head towards the armpit look quite pronounced but on the model are more muted and less defined. That effect will only increase when you put a coat of primer and paint on the model. Other than that, I think you've got a very nice idea there.
