This small time company (only one actual product of 15mm figures) apparently is jumping on the bandwagon of Sci Fi greatcoats . No idea on what type of material. In fact theres only two pics of their renders and that they'll be 30mm or so in scale

They'll be cast in resin and will be comparable in size to a guardsman. These are still WIPs so there isn't much to show right now.

The armor plates are kind of nonsense, but the detail and quality looks good. The real test is how the coat itself looks.

Rivets are too long.

Hopefully they'll be more at the 28mm (or even smaller) end of the scale. In other words smaller than the plastic GW guardsmen and more like the older metal guardsmen in scale.

Refreshing to have a non German type helmet on the head.

I agree. That head made me think of the old Cobra Troopers from the GI JOE cartoon/toy line. Which is a good thing by the way...I'd love to make a Cobra themed Guard army.

Heads are great, not sure on the bodies. Just selling sprues of those heads alone would probably get some good sales.

For 40K, this would make pretty good carapace armour - so long as the scale is close, possibly the torso piece can be used with GW's heads, arms and trou. I guess we'll have to wait to see some comparison photos.

If they cost as much or less than Cadians and better scaled I'll be taking some.

The rivets look ridiculous (maybe less so at 30mm size), but I'll second the motion that separate sprues of the head would be nice. Very modern SWAT looking.

Yeah, the rivets on the shoulder pad are perfect. The ones on the body armour just look a little odd.

Other than that, so far it's a guy in a flak jacket with a mixing bowl on his head. The detail looks nice, but there's really not enough to go on to get excited just yet.

I'll certainly be interested to see where it goes, though.

I don't even KNOW anymore.

Not a fan of the body armor - looks like some paintball gear that I've seen.

inset the rivits on the armor a little like the ones on the shoulders and you should be gold

as a note, what are is the lower panel on the shoulder screwed into, his shoulder socket?

Thanks for the feedback.

@kenshin: no worries

About the rivets...this is a WIP so nothing is quite finished yet. Viewing details like the rivets in a nice close-up is different than how they will look when they print up on a 30mm figure. We've been working on refining those kinds of details and will continue to do so.

Looks like they are riveted to the coat.

I'm from the future. The future of space

The rivets needs to be big like that so you'll actually be able to see them when it's shrunk down. They may look too large in this renders, but that's no guarantee how they'll look in resin.

I'll definitely be paying attention to these figures as they develop.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I think we're on the right track with the size at least. Here is a render of a character model for this force:

Here's how it printed out:

Here's how it measures up next to some other models:

I ask that you keep in mind that some 3D prints are better than others, depending on who does the work. These pictures will show varying degrees of clarity, depending on where we had them printed.

Again, these are all considered works in progress.

If I had need for Greatcoat models, and had the time to wait, you'd be at the head of the pack, so far. If I ever give in to the temptation and do a Traitor Guard army, it'll be Greatcoats all the way.

I don't recognize the model on the far right. Is that one of yours, too?

Please, tell me, though, that the print out is NOT how it'll come out in the end. There's simply not enough detail.

Thanks.

Eric

I'd buy it, but it depends what the helmets/faces look like I think, and they would basically have to be plastic kits, or similarly affordable...

Looks pretty good so far. It'd be helpfull to show it next to a Cadian an/or a ruler.

The two figures it's pictured with are not common figures in the collections of most players and FW is known for having some figures scaled differently than regular GW.

It's not bad.
The arm on the hip isn't especially convincing, at least in the print. It looks more like someone's bending a sausage (Uri Geller's early years) than an arm in a coat.
I think the sculptor might be over sculpting some of the coat/cloth detail and it's not translating well at that scale. Look at the coat on the Krieg guy for isntance, nice clean lines. The Mad Robot character's coat gets a bit wobbly in the skirt area and seems to even pinch back in towards the legs at the bottom trim.

The shin guards look good, but the breastplate is making me angry! The placement of the riveted plates and the way the front piece is molded seem both impractical and aesthetically unappealing. iAt the very least, if that's as crisp a line of the plates as your printer can manage I'd definitely consider a redesign for that reason alone.

Obviously that was a bit negative, I think it's a good start though.

So the consensus is lose the extra plates all together?

While I'm not in the market for greatcoats at this time, I have to say I actually like the armor plates. Perhaps, if it's financially feasible, offer two different bodies? One with the armor plates, one without.

Since the minis will be modular, an alternate torso would be a possibility but probably not at launch.
