Subject: Re:Mythbusters have a cannonball accident

Or indeed, *all* of the damages. Seeing as it was entirely their fault.
Erm, misfire? Actually the article quotes that one of the requirements of using the range was getting insurance, so it just means that insurance pays them out. Misfires happen relatively often, especially with old style muzzleloaders, and there really is nobody's fault or nothing really that you can do to prevent it. It can happen to the best of us. I do know that they also use ballistic experts for the cannon experiments.
I am actually surprised that something like this hasn't happened earlier. as per *tree cannon* and the aircraft myth. Also that awesome concrete truck explosion.
Well obviously it was an accident, perhaps I should have said that liability lies with them rather than 'fault'. Anyway, it shouldn't cost the owner of the house anything, was the point I was making.
Considering how much space isn't occupied by a person at any given time, actually hitting anyone with a cannonball, aimed or not, at those distances would have been amazing.
The cannonball went UPWARDS through the house. So obviously it hit in front of the house, bounced up and had enough energy to go through several walls (ok, what you Americans call "walls", anyway), still had enough energy to cross a street and enter a minivan.
What would you give to re-roll the scatter dice sometimes ...
