Gulliman MAY have.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Both may still be alive. With Alpharius/Omegon you can never be sure. For all we know in some future book it will be revealed that Dorn just killed a body double while the real Alpharius was away plotting something nasty. There is no way of knowing whether the real Alpharius is dead or not since no one (even within the Alpha Legion) knows who the real Alpharius is. Alpha Legion fluff is never this straightforward, you can be sure that there is some kind of future plot twist planned.

Alpharius IS dead. He died quite spectacularly and if you think he's still alive you're a wrongun.

Guilliman is not dead either obviously. This must be an old thread.

I thought the Fists had his skeleton encased in amber as well?

The Fists only recovered one of Dorn's hands. No kill was confirmed.

Frankly it's rather annoying that the Imperial Fists just seem to have assumed he died after finding the hand.

You aren't wrong, but I hope they don't do that. If you don't plan on reading Praetorian of Dorn:

Spoiler:
Alpharius spends almost the entire book believing he's a body double sent by his primarch on a deep-cover mission. Only to realize after layers of subconsciously programmed contingencies that he actually is Alpharius who had himself brainwashed to think he was one of his marines in order to follow his meticulously laid out plan without compromising himself with knowledge of the bigger picture.

Even leading up to it though you as the reader can see he's a cut above your regular space marine, and it becomes more readily apparent as the story approaches it's climax. Dorn recognizes him right away. (Something he was shown doing in flashback as well)

After he dies, the perspective shifts to Omegon who actually seems a bit nervous about taking up the mantle of Alpharius...

Having him turn out to be a body-double all along would spoil a pretty decent entry in the series.

The whole thing has been spoiled by Dorn
Spoiler:
getting to up his cred by offing a primarch and thereby ruining one of the coolest aspects of what has since become a somewhat decidedly uncool series of reveals.

Still, at least we're all really Alpharius anyway, I guess?

[No, I'm not bitter about this. At all.]

As for Guilliman - even back when there was 'only' one Alpharius, it was almost 100% a certainty that he killed someone other than the Legion's primarch.

Now?

Who knows where the story will go.

After all, Alpharius and Alpha Legion marines were among the *tallest* marines back then - with Alpha being almost as tall as Horus.

Ah, how things change...

Also, yes, this thread is really old...

It makes more sense to be smaller. They are essentially two made from one. So half as good each.

The scene shows Omegon noticing the link between them is broken. I think authors have even confirmed it's a real death.

Because there are no tall twins in the world?!? LOLWUT?!?

It makes...no sense.

Or as much sense as anything else in 30K/40K.

Also, watch your spoiler tags - given BL's release schedule, I don't think many have read PRAETORIANS OF DORN yet!

Manus is also potentially being cloned and killed over and over again in the Eye while Fulgrim continues to try to convince him to join Chaos.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

That's not potentially. That's actually happening.

Cloned from a drop of blood or something else relatively small. But no metal arms obviously. His real body was shredded to tiny bits.
