Think about it. Originally he was viewed as a failure, a weak primarch who wanted to do something besides kill stuff all the time. By becoming as powerful as he did, he failed to fulfil this view, hence failing to fail. The fact that he is full of win has doomed him to eternal failure to fulfil what his brothers expected of him.

Firing my Hellgun into a Fire Warrior's head....

I'm siding with coa on this one, had sanguinius not fallen to Horus. The emperor would not have known how far Horus had fallen. Making him try to talk to horus instead of just try to kill him. Which would probably had ended up in horus's victory.

If you are talking about heroic sacrifices, you have to mention Ollanius Pius. Yes, he's no longer canon, but still.

Regular, run of the mill Imperial Guardsman pulls a "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" moment on a Chaos-powered Horus. If anything in 40k is BA, that certainly is.

Gotta disagree with this, never been impressed by Ka'bandha. After having his spine shattered by Sanguinius and being piledriver'd-from-orbit by the Sanguinor, I wouldn't be surprised if he now rolls around in a wheelchair made of brass and skulls.

The Emperor didn't believe how far Horus had fallen until he saw Horus flay someone by looking at them. He would have fought even if Sanguinius hadn't been there.

As for Jesus, he did what he wanted to do. His victory was his sacrifice. I doubt Sanguinius intended to die when he faced Horus.

This. Dear god this. You'd think these guys would have the most impressive technology in the IoM and stomp-face everything they fought.

As for the Sanguinius death being pointless because the Emperor got semi-pwnt anyway...Look at the bigger picture. The IoM WON the fight on Earth and subsequently face-fethed every traitor across the entire galaxy in the purge afterwards.

I'd say his sacrifice was very much worth it.

You really think theyre in a better place now then if they still had Sanguinius? I don't know about that. The Big E didn't need his help vs Horus. It's was just written to make his death seem less useless. Not to mention causing the ba's psychological issues witnessing his death over and over.
