I really don't care what you think and I really don't care that you think that people have "hidden reasons" other than the ones they mention and I'm certainly not going to waste my time refuting your ridiculous claims.
I just stated what happened in my country and from what I've read on this and other forums this is what happened all over the world as well and
WHFB sales plummeted accordingly.
You like 8th? More power to you, a couple of younger kids have started to pick it up again over here and we are now seeing 2-4 of them that are playing games regularly and maybe that was
GW's intentions all along to change the game so that it appealed to a younger demographic. I just find it amusing that after all this time
GW still doesn't understand who spends more money on their toys but hey, all those other emerging companies sure are appreciative of their efforts!
No. I disagree with that statement a majority of the people who are palying Fantasy in my store at
GW Wollongong is 18+. Also, your eltist attiude is purely insulting to those who actually enjoy 8th Edition. People hate change Phantom,
WHFB changed alot in 8th and people got upset because of that. If they are trying to sell to kid why do they have Slannesh? In my opinion Warhammer
WHFB should be a game for adults and not for kids. Warhammer
40k is for more kids.
Again, I don't care about your opinions and if you agree or disagree with me because I'm stating facts no opinions. And if you wan't to feel offended then I suggest you direct those feelings towards
GW since the fact that
GW games are targeted at the 12-15 demographic has been stated by them time and again including one particular conversation heard by me between a
GW sales rep and a
LGS owner where the
GW employee was advising the
LGS owner to get rid of all the older players in his store because he was supposed to concentrate on selling to young kids who where apparently intimidated by the older players...
That the changes in 8th where targeted at selling more models and making
WHFB more appealing to young kids isn't too hard to see as well:
- Younger kids have trouble accurately judging spatial distance, therefore
GW made it so it didn't mattered by making all charge ranges variable and taking the focus away from the charge;
- Younger kids don't understand the importance of thinking ahead and tactical movement and unit placement and where frustrated by terrain, units being prevented from marching, etc,
GW got rid of all these things and made so that terrain had no impact on your movement;
- Younger kids like big, flashy effects, therefore
GW revamped the magic system and introduced the "I win" spells;
- Etc..
So if you feel that I'm "elitist" for stating that
WHFB 8th edition is a game for young kids, go and take your complains to
GW, they where the ones that made the game into what it is. But there isn't anything wrong in liking
WHFB 8th, like I said, if you like playing it, more power to you, I love playing Lego Ninjago with my 4 year old son and I'm WAY past its target demographic...
