Honestly, I think this may be an act of political terror by extremists who disagree with the new EU bailout plans and relief efforts.

Where did I say there was a group involved in the Norwegian shootings? I was speculating that in this case it could have been a group of crazies that had similar ideas as him. But it turns out it's not.

Switzerland, (Until recently) France, and from all I can tell Belgium are not much worse off (in some ways better!) than our more restrictive states like CA and IL for raw ownership. Just expect things like AR15s to cost a boatload more than they do here.

Not really, no. While tragedies like this are awful, it's important to put them in the context of a planet with six billion people on it, and the fact that almost all of them will go their whole lives without ever being involved in something like this.

For some time I've carried nothing but a snub .38 that adequately prepares me for 90% of the situations I worry about. Also carry a .22 automatic at times...seems the Israelis thought it was plenty.

When people think like this the terrorists are getting what they want.

So, random violence is just as deadly as terrorism.

Therefore, we should start a War on Random Violence! This calls for sweeping changes to law enforcement powers, otherwise you will look like you are weak on Random Violence!

In other news, in the States I did not hear a single peep about this incident. Granted, I haven't been watching TV, only sporadically listening ot the radio, and mostly wasting time on Dakka.

Exactly my point. I dont doubt for a second it is down to something to do with his Religion, but the government don't want to talk about it because they think it might escalate the current sizeable problems in Europe between Muslims and everyone else.
