When a plastic resculpt of a metal model is released, the metal model is phased out of regular distribution. There are several reasons for this including consolidating sku counts to make stocking our product easier for retailers and to ensure that we are better able to control our prices by producing our larger models in materials that are much less prone to volatile price increases. However, certain models will be made available through sale on our online store as part of our direct only "Classics" range some time after the new plastic release and discontinuation of the model from distribution. For players who want the classic version but cannot find it at their LGS we will continue to produce these classic models up until their molds wear out, at which time the model will be retired from our catalog (though still perfectly legal for tournament and casual play).

Cheers!

Interesting... and thanks for the link, sfunk37!

He did say "certain models", but I can't imagine that not including the original Mauler. Not much reason to include the metal Bomber, though, since it seems to be identical to the plastic.

Short story: Metal models will be moved to online only and will continue to be produced until the molds wear out. You have plenty of time to get your metal maulers.

Ok, considering that PP isn't loosing money on the Mauler per se, but lets say, isn't winning as much as it does with newer models due to the huge increase in the price of metals, that is an awesome piece of news and just another reason why PP is miles ahead of its most direct competitors when it comes to customer care!

I presume the new plastic sets will be added to their core list? Does anyone know if the Metal Maulers will be relegated to the 3-5 day order processing, 6-8 week hell that is anything not on the core list?

I'd probably stick to the extreme sculpt for Maulers. Good job since the plastic Mauler is by far the weakest sculpt of the three. I really like the new Blitzer sculpt, the Bomber is indistinguishable IMO.

The Bomber is the best of the three, though being based on the metal it's easy to see why. The Blitzer isn't too bad, but I do prefer the metal version, but putting the plastic together should be much easier!

The Mauler is just bad though. The back spines look off not being connected to the head. The head itself looks weird and the fists are way too big. Just not very good on this one in my opinion.

These look cool, good place for my buddy to start his Trollblood army. I'm also waiting to see if Skorne comes out soon, since I'm pretty much done building my Legion army.

I think this is perfect for someone to start with... it will give them two really useful beast options (mauler and bomber) that can be used in different styles of lists, for a low cost!

Personally, I'd just not use the mauler's head, and position his hands a little differently when assembled, and I think it will look fine

I think the big difference for the mauler is the pose. The old one is screaming "BRING IT B****ES!" and the new one is screaming "I'MA HUG YOU!"

you guys realize the legs and body are all the same for the 3 models. Just head and arm swaps make them different. so if you don't like one, it's kind of like saying you don't like them all.

They look different, and I believe it's because the angle is different for the Mauler. I believe the back spines perhaps make the torso appear taller? I'm not certain what could be tricking my eye here. So you may be right, I might or might not like the legs on the plastic models.

I thought it was just the back piece that was changing, along with the arms and heads... I guess we can't really know for sure until seeing pictures of the sprue, but I think it's likely the rest is shared between them.

Not quite, the most prominent feature that defines one miniature is the head, that bit alone can make one fig look good or look bad.

I highly doubt that they would take the time and effort to produce metal
maulers once they have the stock of plastic ones out there. Probably
6-8 week hell or even worse.

I'm curious if people think it will be possible to make the back piece swappable, or just the hands/heads, for those who want to magnetize it (I'd also like to do it).

I'm wondering if the mane on the mauler's back is a separate piece, as well as the plate on the bomber/blitzer's back covering up the "rock" outcroppings on the mauler's back.

I.e., the back piece is the same, it's just the mane and plate that are separate. Which would seem to make it more magnetizable (maybe even for Rok's options when they come out, too?)

I don't have any experience with PP plastic omni-kits... I am happy to have something to call "Omni-troll", though

I just edited the OP to include the new pic of Rok! Check out the 360 view, it makes it a lot clearer:

Personally, I absolutely love him . Any idea if he'll be released at the same time, or in a later month / as a follow-on, based on similar releases by PP in the past?

At least the Merc heavy kit and the corresponding upgrade to Rocinante came out at the same time.

He looks a bit too cartoonish for my taste, the hands are humongous like a fan favorite hockey player would say.
