The fluff text is nothing to do with the actual rules. The rules don't say that he joins the DC, so he doesn't.
Yes, by RaW he does not join the Death Company.
Buy we all know they like to use the Fluff for RaI and if FaQed he would magically be able to run with the death company.
My earlier post where I said considering his fluff says that he had been inducted into the death company.
Currently it is not clear.
I was talking about it not being clear as far as RAI is concerned. Since GW writes fluff that does not correspond to the rules much of the time.
RAW is 100% clear.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Who ever said it was a battleship based at sea? In 40K they have the Leviathan which is technically a land battleship. Heck we could even take a page from the book of almost every Final Fantasy game out there, and make it an airship that happens to be a battleship. Remember, the rules don't say it has to be a battleship from the sea either.

Thanks, I'm a new player and you're incredibly unhelpful. I don't know the rules which is why I'm asking. I was hoping the army I picked would be multidimensional and that there would be some exciting possibilities that I was eager to pursue. .
You came on a forum asking for rules help and got mad at everyone because they told you you were wrong. Then, even afterwards you continue to disregard everyone's rules suggestions, don't call me any names. you're rules mongering, and quite poorly at that. You can't just make up rules for your codex because you think its "fun". if you want to try fun why isn't mephiston an Independant Character? other librarians in your codex are discribed as Independant characters so why wouldn't they work the same?
>hint the codex was written that way.
If you're a new player you shouldn't just ignore advice when you ask for it. I'm sure your gaming group is so happy with your fluff decisions that they're just falling all over you to play you. This game is about fun, but intentionally ignoring rules because you think it makes something better is no fun for anyone.

Uh, of course he can. Everyone is free to make up their own rules for whatever they want. We're talking about a game of toy soldiers here.
What you can't do is expect other players to always automatically agree to play by your made up rules just because you think they'll be more fun.

I was being slowed about his rolling but my comment stands when it comes to dread limit. This helps that further.

Thabk you, that is the point I was trying to make. My friends and I, a group whom I've never played outside of are perfectly capable of playing the game how we want, and if sticking a little closer to the fluff makes more sense to us, then that's what makes it fun.
My comment about finding other people to play was more about finding people who want to play a little more casually. I don't like super serious people, after this post I've pretty much decided ever playing in a tournament is a bad idea because honestly, wayyyy too fething serious. Little men with plastic guns in a fantasy world.
In the mean time I've reviewed all the points you made and listed in the codex and agree with you that
-tycho AND lemartes both don't count towards the DC dread rule unless lemartes counts towards the 27 extra models limit.
-tycho can't technically be attached to dc
- lemartes does get rerolls
However, for anyone interested in a xhallenge, ill have tycho in the DC
For anyone interested in teaching a guy how to play properly, ill have himke in the dc as a fluff character that counts as a regular dc model.
Also, can a battleship really LoS a thimble?

I was actually wondering if size was relative because that would make a huge difference, however I believe you cannot either a) LoS a thimble from a battleship (lifesize comparison)
OR
Damage a Thimble with a battleship cannonball if you used monopoly relative sizes.

Well you have to take into consideration, is this one of those crazy final fantasy battleships that can fly. Either way we have seriously gone OT...
