Tau is more like Nightmare mode right now Daemons likewise.

DE, Eldar and Oldcrons could be Hard mode, i suppose.

I don't play Eldar (though my wife does) and DE are my other favourite army, but they definitely take a fair bit of finesse.

Oldcrons were my preferred Tournament army until the new codex :( Winning a tournament with them was really a rush

I'd say Marines, because they're easy to paint and have cool fluff.

I agree with tau and daemons, it is not so much that they're really weak or anything, it is just that they both have one army they just can't beat (IG and GK respectively) and those armies happen to be EVERYWHERE.
