Hate to burst peoples bubbles but there was a battlefront 3 in production for awhile but it is currently either in development hell or abandoned (last info was from 2008 and no news since then).
Also, evil obi-wan
Also gameplay footage from before the game was bounced around between five or more developers (so who knows how much even exists anymore and in what state)

The current rumor is that Spark Unlimited is the developer but the only substantiation for this is "Untitled Project" to be published by Lucas Arts.
The 2010 one was supposed to be an online only battlefront (if I recall correctly) and is currently stone dead, the dev supposedly couldn't make the release date on time and Lucas Arts walked away from the project.
I particularly liked the landing pads map of Cloud City, where I tended to just hop in a ship and fly around blasting empty ships apart and killing people running around on the platforms. I did the same on the Dune Sea (IIRC, the one with the Saarlac pit), weaving through the rock columns and tearing the enemy vehicles a new one with each pass. I got really good at handling ships in tight spaces, but it soon became boring, and I lost interest.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Man, I remember those times. Hopping into an ol' fashioned TIE Fighter and shooting down womp ra- err, rebels whilst skirting the canyons. <3

Ow... yeah, that kept me from proper online games, with the exeption of co-op with a few friends.
The single-player campaign was badass enough, though!
What I remember about the Rise of the Empire is ... how quiet it was.
During the waning hours of the Clone Wars, the 501st Legion was discreetly transferred back to Coruscant.
It was a silent trip. We all knew what was about to happen, what we were about to do.
Did we have any doubts, any private, traitorous thoughts?
Perhaps, but no-one said a word.
Not on the flight to Coruscant, not when Order 66 came down, and not when we marched into the Jedi Temple.
...
Not a word.
Loved the first one, wet myself with joy over the second. became so good at the space battle maps my siblings and friends refused to play against me on them. then i discovered Mos-Eisley's third map...

Huge fan of the Battlefronts. I overall prefered the first one but I loved some of the additions and minor changes in the second one. Example, I liked they replaced the Pilots with an Engineer class and added an urban camo for the Rebel Troopers.
Oh my crap!!! Gotta play it now!! Nothing like taking on half the droid army with a clone engineer down a thin passage way on the polaris moon base mines, insta health and ammo, shotguns and remote bombs FTW!!!
