Ah! The tomb scarabs rise... That's very interesting i must say, keep it up my friend!

Well, the trenchcoated mini is about Guard size. Truth be told, I'm basing the size a little off a Privateer Press Cygnar model, to make sure it's 28mm scale. The mini with the arms and torso isn't quite mini. It will most likely end up about Dreadknight size, if not bigger. Probably a bit taller than a Dreadknight- it's meant more for Fantasy and RPG use, however, so that should not be a problem.

I have more progress on the Scarab. Finally got some Wing Covers roughed out- this was difficult, since they have broken more times than I can count.



There'll be more work done on them, of course. I'll be using GS to possibly fix the one corner (though since it's meant to be ancient statuary, I might not.) And of course I'm going to be adding decorations and tiny, tiny heiroglyphics on the edges- it's meant to look like one of the decorative Sacred Egyptian Scarabs decided to get up and start flying around.

Sadly, I think this camera is almost worse than my cameraphone. Unfortunate, really. It's an HP photosmart E327 that used to be the family camera. Years and years ago. Had to take the picture through a magnifying glass to get it to come out this clear.

but the maginifying glass ruined the focus of the cam i think... but the model looks very good...better make a new pic with your phone so that we can see the details better...!!!

The more yellowish scarab. What did you use for the wings?

The yellowishness is an artifact of the lighting- they're all the same, just in different stages of sculpting. I'm going to be casting the final product.

The wing cases (the wings will be more bird-like, in accordance with Egyptian Sacred Scarab motifs and Khemrian design) are carved from Crayola Air-dry Clay- cheap, and hardens to a nice hard but easily carved consistency that's perfect when you're making tiny statues. I'll be adding either tiny glyphs or little abstract decorations on the edges as well.

I tried GS and my non-hardening modeling clay as well, but those just didn't end up working right, and the clay allows for better detail.

Just regular old clay? Hmm... As fr the wing/ feather idea that sounds pretty interesting I'll be keeping my eye out.

Oh btw after my guard (which are almost done) in problebly doing dark elfs...
