Its slightly overcosted but its still a very good unit which brings things to the table which Nids really need (something that can survive missile spam + long range shooting) which makes it a very competitive choice. I've found that the people who claim that its a terrible over-costed unit that you should never take also tend to be the same people who take 3 Trygons and wonder why they get blasted to pieces as they run at people and never seem to have enough anti tank ability.
i saw this and went ha thats me.
yes i take three trygons and no who ever has three trygons and thinks they dont have enough anti tank is wrong to be put simply.
on the matter at hand, yes the tyranofex is overpriced, can it be use ful and make its points back, certainly. it cannot have a rupture cannon though, the single strenght 10 hit is not enough, it will get creamed before it takes anything out, if you disagree than you should verse one of the players i do, an extra armour dosent always help, plasma spam will be your end and its not uncommon. if you want to take it and make it useful, take anti swarm, basicaly dont take rupture cannon, keep it at the front lines and help kill big squads on objectives and your opponent will wet themselves. it is not good at combat but with an almost impenatrable hide only range and eliets are your worry. the amount of shots is crazy and becuase your a
MC you fire all of them!!!!!!! the real question here is not whether a tyranofex is useful becuase if you play trygons, it will do the same damage if you take what i have sugested as they will. they are better combating tanks than shooting becuase other wise they turn into a terrible predator (the unit) and cost the price of two!
P.S. i only read half the comments so if someone already said this im sorry im not trying to copy.
