fething hell but they pissed me off painting them. I had to give them about 6 layers of yellow, and that was over the foundation paint?

I thought it was supposed to go over in one layer?!

And then I washed them all with loads of mud, because the yellow still looked kinda patchy.

If I do more fists Im gonna buy some army painter yellow and spray them to death first.

Yellow is a bitch to paint. What color did you prime them? White or Black? For best yellows, I use a 50/50 mix of white and yellow for the first coat, then just straight yellow for the second coat. I never needed a third... I used to do the same thing with Reds, but then I found Reaper Master Series High Definition Red.

You did yourself proud. I see no reason to feel anything but confident putting that army on the table. IMO good painting looks like someone took the time to put some pride in their work. Yours certainly qualify! Now I'm going to go check out Chapter House for combi-weapons.....

Yeah Kronk, I sprayed em black with the GW stuff right out the can, painted them with Iyanden foundation, did about 6-8 layers of golden yellow, then washed a few times with Gryphonne Sepia.

Wasnt particularly neat as I was getting pissed off with adding layers. Then I cheated and did all the writing with a tiny black pen.

If you can find a spray-equivalent, GW Bestial Brown is a great foundation for yellow. Easy to paint over and adds a nice shade too

Your whites look astounding.

You can get Daemon Yellow spray can by Army Painter. Super quick. Cost less than GW Black primer too.

Well, if you have been following my heated exhanges on the Finecast thread, I recently purchased my first non GW model, A scibor SF knight.

I always buy mail order cos I get to save more money for booze, and I couldnt be bothered with sending the Finecast Librarian back to Wayland if it was full of holes, but I really wanted a Terminator Librarian for riding with my assault Terminators.

So, here he is. My first ever painted non GW model. I think he looks cool, its also the longest Ive spend on a model, because getting all the gold trim done was a fething nightmare, and I had to go gold/blue/gold/blue/gold/blue/gold/blue before I thought I had managed to get all the gold, and re-blue all the blue I hit with gold!

The shield was a nightmare as well.. blue, gold, red, white, blue, gold, red, white, blue, gold, red, white, blue, gold, red, white,... You get the idea.

I think the base is a bit gakky as it is far too large, so he isn't glued on, and I will base him same as the Termie Assault squad. But I painted the Scibor one just cos it was there.

Oh and the sharp eyed will notice that his shield changes position, because I couldnt decided if it looked cooler facing away like he is charging at someone and swinging his sword, or covering his body as if he is ready to block something. Im pretty new to magnets and I only got my hobby drill a few weeks ago, so It went ok after a few slips and plenty of glue, and I even did the sword too, so I can swap it for an axe of a staff or something If I ever get the spare bits.

The sword is pretty gak, but I literally couldnt get it a uniform color with all the gold bits on.. and the robes are.. well.. robes. But I am happy with him, and he is probably my best painted model so far. (5/6 hours?)

Sound mate. I learned my lesson though. So, I'll drink a bit more steadily next time.

When I first got him out he looked too large and bulky, but stick him on a normal base, and I think he will fit in with the squad fine..

Ill post the Termie Assault Squad when I finish them, they are still half done.

Yeah, he looks the right size -- or rather, just barely makes the termies look puny if you think about it too hard.

Excellent work on the fur mantle there, by the by.

More stuff.. Finally painted Calgar, despite the fact I will never play him because he is far too expensive, dearer than Mephiston?!

Yeah it comes with the MM, i just bastardized it and glued the flamer on instead.

It took me friggin ages to shove magnets up the arses and on the boots of all the scouts, I think its the longest I ever spent on a model.

I'm happy with it though, my painting has drastically improved since I picked my paintbrush back up after a 15 year absence!

Looking good - and it entertains me to think of you giving space marines magnet supositories
