I suppose when it comes to fantasy, few people wanna be big.
I am reminded of several settings, such as the Wheel of Time series, where the only "large" women (or rather those who I see based on their descriptions) are those who are the definite Motherly types, especially those who have borne at least one of the main characters and have successfully had multiple children

Very true. In many women are thin slips of girls until they start popping out kids.
Even so, you'd think they'd make some maternal models or something though.

I know it's not PC to say it, but why would you WANT to be fat?
I put 20lbs on after I took some time off phys and went on the beer for ten weeks after Iraq. It sucked, i felt breathless tying my shoes cos my gut was in the way. Im back to 185, its ace.
Being fit and athletic and muscular just feels good, and fatties might not like to admit it, but that's the size of it. If you can pick your toon in a fantasy setting to look however you want, then men want to be big and buff and chicks want to be slim and hot.
That's just the way of it.

Sadly, it's also the only one I can think of. You can find a few bar maid minis and halfling/dwarf female warriors that are a bit overweight looking for their height but nothing else that I can think of that has a chubby tall/human scale woman in armor. The hasslefree minis of women tend to be curvy but that's more of an exaggerated scale and artistic license than trying to represent actual fat.
Incidentally, the beard is a separate bit. You don't have to use it.
OT: wow, there are some awesome minis in this thread. The only "fat" mini I could think of off the top of my head was Furlong the Fat ( http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat750012a&prodId=prod1500364a). You people rock
Now I just have to figure out a project that could use them...

Well, being a fatty, I agree with you. My wife, however, has struggled with her weight - in the opposite direction. She even had some nasty comments about bulimia and anorexia, even though she eats almost as much as I do. She wants to be bigger than she is. Maybe not fat, but not size zero either (and yes, she is a size zero and hates it).
Of course, it is possible to be fat and still be quite athletic and fit, just as it's possible to be thin and hideously unhealthy.

^this. I admit to becoming a fatty since I got out of the Army, but I'm working on it. While I was in I was overweight pretty much all the time, without being over tape...I was in great shape, but I was still a little round around the edges...

Aye It does work both ways, my missus is mega skinny as well, I was merely putting the point out there that most people would all prefer to be skinnier than fatter, and far more people strugggle with gaining weight than losing it.
I suppose thats because all of the best things in life are high in calories.. you know.. Ice cream, best bitter and Yorkshire pudding.

Kinda awkward that Gw doesn't have more fat models. The number of fat people who play this game out number the skinny or "fit" atleast 3 to 1. I guess GW doesn't care about the bulk of their players.
FAT MARINES!!! YES!!! I know nurgle is fat... but when half the model is gone because of decay, they are no longer fat. I can see it now. Chubby marines running across the field, getting half way there and on a roll of 1 they die, and other roll they can only move at half speed. GO FAT PEOPLE!!!
and if you are wondering i am one of the for mentioned fat people.

If you want a not-skinny chick in power armor, "Power armored Libby" from Hasslefree is definitely your best bet. The irony of course being that sans power armor, she'd probably be closer to average, than "fat". Either way shes definitely significantly bigger than the runway-waif female figures that dominate the sci-fantasy miniatures market.
Here's a couple of painted examples of libby in power armor.

There was a model from GW a whiles back. Looked like a fat operal singer complete with scale mail, spear, and golden helmet. I picked her up from mail order when they were suggesting it as a cheerleader for a norse bloodbowl team.
