Somewhere.

Alright, so my wife today challenged me to find a model for a character she's making. A larger to fat figured lady in armour. I figured that wouldn't be too hard, but currently cannot much blubber on the webs (unless you count when I typed 'fat model' into google's image search) and it kinda amused me. I know most miniatures are fantasy based and all, but even in fantasy you get the odd fat but strong character (or the fat, evil bad guy) so it seems weird that there are no models, or that they're so tucked away that ten whole minutes of google failed to find any.

And yet you can find the Wet Nurse...

Check out the thread about the Ukrainian slave girl mini. You'd haveta add armor but she's thick. Not FAT but thick.

Hello,
My suggestion is the Hasslefree line, theu have no problem modeling women in armor and such that are built like they can actually carry it http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=liberty~hfh001&category=miniatures%7Efantasy-humans The have several that are modeled from real women so they tend to be built sturdy, they also have some "pin-up" /"cheesecake" types in this build. Good luck!

Regards,
Carl

She's not even thick... she's at fairly appropriate weight.

On point one, I really like that model, of course because of the movie The Fifth Element.

On point two I agree she is of a normal weight, perhaps some have became used to the Infinty "she wieghs 105 lbs, stands 5'10 and one arms a sniper cannon" models. That said because of the title of the above mini it does come with alot of other baggage to deal with, such as bad naming convention.

Deep Frier of Mount Doom

That's an ogre which would be out of scale with any other likely PC's and frankly looks stupid with the tacked on beard (which didn't used to be on the model IIRC originally). Sadly, it's also the only one I can think of. You can find a few bar maid minis and halfling/dwarf female warriors that are a bit overweight looking for their height but nothing else that I can think of that has a chubby tall/human scale woman in armor. The hasslefree minis of women tend to be curvy but that's more of an exaggerated scale and artistic license than trying to represent actual fat.

Fat people and white men are the last two groups that it's considered socially acceptable to ridicule. I'm surprised you can't find some comedic stuff out there, at least.

I know Wargames Foundry has some models of fat people in it's futuristic line, but I don't know if there are any women.

She is considered thick by the mainstream guys that's all I was saying. I personally think she's fantastic (she seems to be modeled very close to my wife) and am buying a couple for my wife to paint as slaves for her Dark Eldar army!

Mordheim had a hefty Sister of Sigmar. That is the only one that readily comes to mind for me tbh.

You do occassionally get a hefty male fig for comic relief, etc. but hefty lady figs are rare...

There are a fair few pregnant models if my memory serves but slapping some body armor on those seems just wrong....

This makes me think of the ogre cheerleader. We wish she had some armour on.

If I recall there is a hefty She-Troll in Hordes, but again she is not wearing armour.

There are plenty of big guys. The Abrakhan Guard from LOTR come to mind.

Yeah there must be some Wagneresque Valkyries kicking about.

Perhaps some Amazonian fantasy football teams might prove fruitful.

The sisters of sigmar was a good suggestion.

I don't know why but I want to suggest Wargames Foundry. They have such a huge range there must be something there?

As Gheist suggested earlier, try Hasslefree. Here, this one is even described as a "fuller-figured dynamic heroine in a suit of powered armour" - sounds just like what you're after.

If it is meant to be Fantasy, try looking for female dwarfs. Lots of rounded females in armour there.

Not fat, but certainly sturdy, especially considering the Red Box aesthetic is fairly scaled and non-heroic...

I once did this while helping a buddy find a scantily clad vampire countess mini. Sadly I was at work and decided googleing Scantily Clad 28mm Model was a good idea. While I had fun my boss was none to pleased

Don't mess with the Sister:

Reaper actually has a couple good models that might work for her.

They have a stocky (but not fat) dwarf:

Looks like it would be an easy weapon swap. Is she looking for fantasy or sci-fi?

They also have a stocky human warrior:

Again, not "fat" but a good muscular body I think.

Thanks for the suggestions, kind folks. There are some usable models here.

Still, I was half expecting to be told 'What the hell are you on about!?' and be presented with a wall of flesh that makes a BBW site look tame. I'm kinda surprised at how slim (hah, I made a funny) the pickings are. I can think of a number of books where some fat but powerful warrior is present, and large woman aren't exactly uncommon either.

I suppose when it comes to fantasy, few people wanna be big.
