My idea for an apocalypse game is more of a modern day biblical theme, but more hollywood than "real" .. gangs lead by an angel or demon, specialist type characters would be people "possessed" by good or evil, and henchmen would be normal human followers.

I was afraid Zombies and road warrior stuff has been done too much already.

But anyway, next game would be a long ways off.. I only have a whole 2 figures done for my first game so far Though the Apocalypse game is what I'm leaning toward most. I already have ideas set aside for every option I listed, just curious to see what folks want so I know what might be good to start digging into next.

I think the biblical slant makes for a more unique approach to the Apocalypse genre, and it does leave elbow room for a bit of a horror slant as well. Zombies are done to death, and you'd certainly be compared to every last zombie video game or movie ever. Like the venerable Vampire, zombies have run their course.

I was going to suggest you should go with the Children's TV Apocalypse, where the likes of Barney and the Teletubies roam the wastes of the "Scortched Earth" brandishing automatic weapons and rocket launchers, leading their cult of followers to elimniate the remaining "tainted oldies" But your ideas deffinitely better.

Telllytubbies frighten me almost as much as the Snuggle fabric softener teddy bear. Those are the stuff of nightmares. Maybe I can save them for the "horror" game

My idea for a fantasy game was more cartoony though. Instead of just another tolkein game, I was going for something more along the lines of santa elves vs garden gnomes in lederhosen. And all the evil ones will have goatees. Was thinking it would be a 54mm game, but since everyone is short they would be a normal 28mm size, then if I did human sized models they'd be taller and on bigger bases.

Sci fi would be more along the lines of war of the words, flash gordon or buck rogers. Martians in flying saucers, big robots and ray guns that look like super soakers. Like that 50's kind of style..

Horror would be all the traditional stuff like vampires or werewolves, mummies but early hollywood style. Could also do slasher films and stuff too. Will be a little tougher though, cuz I don't want it to be cliche or overdone stuff, and don't wanna just rip off White Wolf.

Goal is to make games that are quick & easy to learn, fast & fun to play, and all the models be something a little different than what's already out there everywhere.

They frighten us all. The thought that at any moment they could open their pez-dispenser head and swallow you whole... While their cult of little people attempt to get a bite before you're gone.*shutter*

I think the fantasy idea would be pretty funny. It might initially confuse people why 28mm minis are called 54mm scale. You need to have the Tinker-bell style fairies for completeness.

The scifi setting would probably give you the most to draw from. FLASH-Ah-Ah!-he'll save everyone of us!

So I decided to pay for the survey for 1 month, at 165 results now

So here's what I have now so far...

1. Create your own gang or use premade characters
88 want to make their own gangs, 8 want premade, 51 don't care, 17 clicked other and almost all said both.

2. Write out your own roster sheet, or use cards
65 like roster lists, 53 like cards, 44 don't care, 5 clicked other and almost all said both.

3. Amount of figures you like to buy
42 like to buy figs separately, 44 like small packs of em, 58 like box sets and 27 clicked other.. most saying they like to start with a starter set and buy singles after

4. Printed rulebook vs downloadable PDF
76 want a printed rulebook, 23 want a PDF, 58 don't care, 21 clicked other and most said they want a real book but also a PDF for quick reference

5. Interactive rulebook & roster app vs old fashioned pen & paper
51 want an app, 67 want to stick to pen & paper, 39 said either, 10 clicked other and most seemed to want an App but in addition to a rulebook not instead of

6. Rulebook format
36 want a small rulebook, 44 want a normal softcover, 36 want a hardcover, 38 no preference

7. Full color or B&W
74 want full color, 35 want black wand white, 46 no preference

8. Other game settings
37 want fantasy, 89 Sci-fi, 81 Apocalypse, 61 Horror/Monsters, 36 historical, 22 other
For other, there were a lot of steampunk, some super heros (never thought of that one), and one guy wants to beat gnomes with shovels.

Gonna keep the survey going for a month and see where it's at in a couple weeks

Bah! no fair .. there's 103 responses so far, but it will only show me the first 100, I have to pay $204 for a year if I wanna see the rest :(

I call shenanigans...
