Do you really need extra armor with psychic pilot and fortitude?

Interesting that BA stormravens get extra armor for free.

I do put it on mine although at 15 points each I have to think about it a lot. I use it because it allows me to completely ignore 1's & 2's on my GK SR. Extra armor reduces 2's down to 1's. Thanks to POTMS I can still fire one weapon and since I fly flat out all the time that's all I ever fire anyway. So by taking the extra armor it save me from having to roll fortitude. Prior to the extra armor I've had a few bad fortitude rolls at extremely in opportune times with my SRs.

I'm thinking of fielding a librarian and a squad of sanuinary guard, totalling around 380 points, plus a librarian dreadnought in a stormraven (when I get round to buying one)- is this a good idea? (they are all jump infrantry, the dreadnought having wings of sanguinius)

GK player here.
In 1500/1750/1850 list, Draigo/Libby(the shrouding) + 5 paladins in the SR.

205 pts for 24" range and a fire magnet, totally worth it.

My enemies always focus on SR first and find that it's not that easy to kill ( and they blame to the bad rolls), that makes my dreads,GKSS,vindicare safer.

Also, I usually use my SR to snipe enemy psykers---every one knows hot to do that.

Don't worry, Draigo will protect you guys!

GK player? hhmm and here I thought you were playing iron hands.

Eh outside of henchman or 2500 pt games I think the sr is a pt sink same goes for vindicare. If those 2 are out of the list thats a vendread and a regular. There are too many high strength gunlines in this area. In the last tourney there was Tau, DE lancespam, IG gunlines, etc. With that many pts in a one lucky shot scenario isnt very appealing if ya wanted to be competitive at low pt game.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

If you're using the BA stormraven, fire all your missiles first turn. It probably won't be around turn two.

I've driven my vindicare around the board with his 12' pistol shooting turbo penetrators before

It's totally worth it sometimes to use metal boxes for the guy. but yea, SR not as useful for him alone but I have a feeling he was just having the strom raven in a list with a vindicare, not that the vindicare was riding in it.

If you don't like vindicare, drop him and choose something else---we are talking about SR here, not vindicare
The point iss that the more fire power my enemy spent on SR, the safer my other units are, and in fact it is not "that" easy to wreck a flat outed SR.

How is it not easy? Because of a math formula? Because you heard it online? Watch batreps on youtube and youll rarely see one survive past turn 2 even vs armies who arent all that good at shooting. What makes them more suriviable is the higher pts where you have more things on the board. Plus I wasn't just commenting on the vindicare except that at low pts hes kind a pt sink.

I also think the logic of the more things shoot at the sr the better is faulty since at low pts thats likely all that you'll have on the board so they have little choice but to shoot at it.

The enemy of my enemy is a bastard so lets kill him too.

Assuming priest and libby are in power/artificer armour and have no jump packs, yes.
SR can carry 12 models and 1 dread, each terminator or jump pack model counting as 2 models. That makes 12 (5x2+1+1) infantry and one dread.
