Nic Cage is what you would have if Jim Carrey only did dramatic roles and is unable to find the off switch.
Although I do like a few of his movies. Bringing out the Dead was interesting, but that might just be because I used to work in EMS.

There is a very similar film out around the same time, and Mark Goldblatt wanted to do that one, and Punisher ended up not as much of the Punisher as fans wanted. The other director noted in an interview that had he done Punisher he would have had him in the skull top etc.

I dunno, I think Jim Carrey can be a pretty good actor. Nick Cage......its pretty rare

Jim Carrey can actually do some dramatic roles, and act like a normal person in them.
But imagine Jim Carrey in any of his overacted, over-the-top comedy movies (aka: The Mask, Ace Ventura, Liar Liar). Then take THAT character and put them in a dramatic movie and you end up with Cage IMO.

Haven't seen the second one, but I was under the impression it was pretty bad. Then again, critics have let me down before(Haywire).
The first one wasn't good, but it wasn't a terrible movie, IMO.

Ooooh ok I understand you now. Yea, that would be a good way to describe Cage
