Then go for the money (although couldn't you make more in, for example, food service?). These crappy interim jobs are just there to plug your rent and tuition money.

Depends on personality and experience.

If you want to make tons of money, and are a people person, its hard to beat fundraising (18-24 per hour). Of course, the industry is based on making employees fail.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

In my past I have taken a different job with a lower wage to be happy. I went from being a casino security guard to a wildland firefighter. In my experience if the work itself makes me happier then the wage received is secondary. A key difference in my situation may be that both jobs provided a suitable wage, and the difference was only about $1.50 dollars an hour. This may be a bad example, when the dust settled I actually made more per year with H pay and crazy amounts of OT. I had a considerable amount more time in my new line of work per year so the lower wage was offset. Had I made less per year my advice may be more sound, but I say go with a job that makes you happy. You will call in "sick" less and not want to hit your co-workers with office furniture etc.

I think you're absolutely correct if we're talking about career path or long-term employment prospects, but in my life I've done a lot of crappy short-term things just to get enough to get me by so that I could remain focused on going on to do bigger, better things. Donating plasma, selling myself to science, living on peanut butter for a week (still hate peanut butter), door-to-door sales. As long as you have a greater goal, as OP obviously does, then I'd say stick with the crap that gives you the most short-term yield, knowing that it's unsustainable, if that allows you to more easily pursue your long-term goals.

I think you made the right decision, hot gingerwise.

That being said, I suspect the adult thing to do would be to urge you to further your education so you can move up from there.

If you're trying to further your education and aiming high after college then i'd seriously consider not smoking that lovely, lovely green. In my experience it kills any drive or ambition you might have. If you stop in 5, 10, even 20 years and find yourself in a dead end shelf stacking job then it might be too late. Chuck it while you're young mate, you'll thank yourself in a few years. That doesn't mean don't smoke it at all just not too often.
The other option is to sell pot for a living. There are so many reasons that's a bad idea, i won't even type them out.

Oddly enough in my younger years I did sell green for a living. But by green this time I ment cash, dolor bills, greenbacks.
