It is an implicit rule that is almost a throwaway line - it isnt explicit.

No, it explicitly says that units that join an IC that has Gone To Ground, go to ground as well.

No, it implies it, through the use of Vice Versa. Explicitly stating would actually be explicitly writing it out, in full.

Do you not wonder at the placement of the rule? Does that not give you *any* queries as to whether they meant to contradict the prior requirements given, explicitly, for the IC to move when joining and leaving? To give an explicit exception in the vehicle embarking / disembarking rules, which would not be required if it were truly meant to be part of the rules?

Not every shadow, but any shadow

It really does look like the onus is on the IC to do the moving to leave, but I have to admit that common sense would permit the squad to move away and leave the IC behind.

The vice versa does seem to indicate that an IC can join a unit by having the unit move towards them, certainly that is the case if they have gone to ground.

I am wondering if it is a special case that allows you to join up because the IC cannot move at the moment? but in other cases where the IC can move the onus is on them to do the moving.

Of course there is the case of IC's and units in vehicles, the unit can leave the vehicle and leave the IC behind, thus they leave the unit.

Which is also spelled out in black and white, unlike a unit leaving an IC out in the open.

Personally I wouldn't make a scene about it - no sense in an IC having to move away instead of just sending the unit away and the IC staying put. Ask your opponent if it makes sense too, maybe he'll be fine with it.
