I don't know if it's just me, but the first thing I thought when I saw the 'Skin Rats' was 'Rat Ogres'!

That means, using these 3 with very minimal (if any) conversion/green stuff work, you have at least 8 possible Rat Ogre sculpts! 3 in the standard box, 2 from the IOB boxed set and then these 3.

Pretty darn cool if you ask me!

I honestly think that these badboys look more like Rat Ogres than anything else!

Edit: Obviously I wasn't the only person to think that! Great minds and everything 'biccat'!

I believe one of the bretonnian specific Storm of Magic spells turns things into frogs (or maybe it's just a miscast result...I don't remember atm)...reading the description, that's my guess...

It's a common magic item from the main rule book that turns an enemy wizard into a frog.

I was considering perhaps a Treekin replacement for Wood Elves. Fits theme as forest spirit, same size etc.

Failing that they're still fantastic werewolf sculpts, if not on a WHFB table it should work well with any other RPG like D&D (Since I don't collect WE ).

I'd say closer to the Rackham sculpts than the Warpwolves, but that's just me.

I am half-tempted to go to the Open Day now, just to get those frogs...

Either that, or he is possessed of a remarkable level of physical fitness. He's outrun everything the Warhammer Forge folks could send at him.

On first glance, I'd say the rules for the Skin Wolves seem a little underpowered for their price. I'd have no issue with players using them as counts as proxies. Think they'd make pretty cool Crypt Horrors in an army that was trying to avoid the ghoul aesthetic.

Also, in Storm of Magic, there is a result on the Arcane Fulcrum Miscast table that turns you into a frog. My Orc Shamans have spent many a game in this state, so will definately have to pick up a couple. Ribbit!

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Would anyone object to Skin Wolves as "counts-as" Vargheists? Hate those monstrosities.

They seem like a better fit for Crypt Horrors. Lack of flight and vampire rules fits well with werewolves.

Using the Skin Wolves as Blood Bowl Werewolves, wouldn't be an issue. A bigger base gives no advantage or disadvantage in the game.

Hell the 3rd ed GW one, looked too cramped on his base anyways. Aura converted one with proper sized legs to match its body size and put it on a 40mm circle base and it looked fine.

Love the toads as well. Tempted to get one to slip onto a Ork Dread base or something, give a horn to squig him up slightly.

I'd say the exact opposite. In regular rules these are actually quite good. Compared to Trolls (or chaos trolls) for +5pts (so you can get 4+ regen) you get WS5, I5 and M7. They only lose -1S (not -1A due to frenzy), but there are marks to fix it. I see these being far more versatile. Giving them EotG would have been fantastic, but unfortunately you can't win them all.

Again good for proxies, but these rules seem fairly balanced if a little bland (why not have them like goblin fanatics in a squad of marauders?).
