Hmm, you need more depth in the paint. Try adding layers. Start chain mail, null oil wash, bolt gun drybrush, nuln oil wash again then dry brush mythril. Doing this will give you a really good depth in the silver. Or the purple start dark then dry brush paler before washing then a final lighter coloured dry brush.

Get a magnifier lamp to go over after and touch up details with a fine detail brush to clean up edges at a magnified level.

Odd colour scheme but that's what you get when you let your partner choose for you.

I like your color scheme but I agree with everyone here when they said that the models need more depth. I am even learned something about photography that I am going to apply to my next work log.

You really need to pick out those eyes. Colour them blue, red, yellow, whatever. It will help lots.

Wow, your drybrushing has improved 10fold over the course of this thread! Well done - nice to see it coming through so quickly. As you pointed out, this is a tabletop job, so it is good to see you are improving at the same time as getting models done. I consider tabletop to be 3 colours plus a base that is at least painted - yours are over and above. Keep up the good work!!!!

I forgot to say - may be worthwhile investing in some washes? Water 'em down, pop them on - insta-depth!

Master Gabrie, I really like the colours it's a colour combination that looks really cool.

I'm not sure if I understand all this terminology but I water my colours and it can look good.

Purple is such a tasty colour.

Really good models and like I said, the colour scheme is really nice, keep up the good work!

God these are nice, you've done loads of work and they have turned out looking awsome. They are no golden deamon but I would be proud if I could paint such a good army.

I like the colour scheme a lot, and I agree that your painting skills have come a long way over the course of this article. I believe the next technique you should work on is how to effectively apply washes. Not only do these add a lot of depth to metals, but they can be applied to any and every surface to easily add an illusion of detail and shadow. Good luck!

You are getting better that's for sure. Lav was blunt (IMHO a bit harsh) but most of his point were correct. It looks like you have already corrected a great deal of the stuff you were not doing in the beginning. In terms of photography: don't use flash. Generally you should use lamps, flashlights and good 'ol natural light. Other then that last "hunter's claw" attack squardon (where it looked like your hand must have shook) your pictures have improved. As far as I can tell you water your paints (good). Next thing is to get a better paint brush. Get one of the citadel fine ones or whatever you can find at your FLGS. If you don't have a good brush already then you should get one. It will make the biggest difference in details (which as Lav pointed out very bluntly you were having difficulty with). And you really should practice on those eyes. Really that is all painting 40k is, practice and patience. If you look at my SM then you will see that they aren't exactly top quality. Finally this is to Lav. Although bluntness can be good, and you are right some people do coddle new players and painters who aren't golden demon worthy, it is important to remember that there is no point being harsh when there is nothing to gain. He might as well figure out the basics before you critique everything that is wrong with his painting, he isn't on commission.

Also washes are known as instant skill for good reason! pick some up asap.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have been using new technques and washes(secret weapon minitures). You will start seeing new paint jobs. My army is for tabletop quality. My house as realy bad lighing issues(IMHO too dark for my taste) so I had to go outside to take pics. I have shakey hands so Ive to get some special tools to help detai work.
