I use Yuriel as either a suicide guy, or I use him with the fortune farseer and 3 warlocks. Ive had some good effect with it, wrecking apart multiple vehicles or tearing up multiple BA assault squads. Its not a deathstar, so you can't put it face to face with T-wolves, but its not bad. Yuriel also lets you reserve your army, as they will come in on a 3+ -- which I find is overall a good tactic when you can move quickly and you want to limit the number of turns you are shot at.
When fighting GK, the biggest concern are the dreads. I will suicide the dragons and warlocks to destroy them. Once they are done, Ill target razorbacks and then infantry. So far it works fairly well. Draigowing armies are harder, and Ive not faced one yet who does what Blackmoor used. The best tactic I've seen for that is to just tank shock em off the board. What kind of GK are you facing -- there are multiple builds.
Spinners are really great. Some games they don't do much, but many other games they really prove worthwhile. The trick is to remember that the role of spinners is to disrupt enemy plans.
yea thats a cool list. Have you thought of ditching the underslungs or changing the weapons on the fire dragons to cannons to add 2-3 warlocks? Im also suprised you didnt give the warlocks enhance because its really good.
Ive played alot of GK lists. One I played at a GT had a stormraven, a Land raider, a couple rhinos, a vidicare, a termi squad in the stormraven, and a few large squads on foot.
Ive played a paladin Deathstar list where I played poorly and got unlucky.
I play a local guy who runs dreds, stormraven with a grandmarshal, and psycannon squads.
Ive not done well in any of the matchs, but most of them are kill points and they had insane rolls on my vehicles.

When I first started brining the 3 warlocks, they were only there for the vehicle suicide. Now that I've used them a few times, I am starting to consider enhance. Ive seen Yuriel and the Farseer whiff on a dread, only to have the warlocks kill it as they die. (9 STR 9 attacks from 3 models is a lot vs vehicles)
As far as the underslungs, I'm really hesitant about getting rid of them. Yes, those SC's only have 24" range, and their BS 3.
I magnetized all my cannons/catapults, and tried a few games with the cannons -- and found I really used them in a lot of situations. Going from 28 to 49 shots with your army is significant.
I've used them to kill enemy fire dragons, to pop scarabs, to destroy rhinos, etc... while its not something I use every game, for 70 points the ability to increase the shots is nice.
You have given me food for thought though. I might drop 1 and get enchance.

The only problem for underslungs with me, is that on fire dragons the serpent is always moving so it wont ever shoot it, and on my troops the 36" range is always used. But if the enemy gets close underslugs do alot more damage.

What happens after you drop the dragons off?
Its been my experience that after I suicide the dragons, about half the time or so the serpent will get away and I still have a turn or two to use it.

Obvious to some, but not to a budding Eldar player and wannabe tourney neophyte like me, is why y'all use 5man squads so much when all Ive ever heard about is keeping your squad count high for abilities like bladestorm and for survivability..
Is this a case of the more on the board the less they can take down by turn 5? Eldar vehicles help win games so the more you have the stronger you are? Need redundancy of troops to capture multiple objectives?
Please someone explain the nuances and strategy behind this because its the major thing confusing me at this point. Thanks!

The reason is to maximize the number of Wave Serpents you bring to the table. Our troops are squishie with their T3 so 10 man bladestorm while fun, is actually less survivable then a 5 man. This is because a 5 man is a 60pt upgrade to make a serpent scoring and they will never leave the tank if it can be helped. On the other hand a bladestorm DA unit has to get out and fire to account for it's point cost.

The best way to understand why, is to bring 10 man squads. Play a couple of games, and you realize that the biggest strength of a mechdar army is mobility. Tanks are mobile, infantry is not. Youll come to realize that you very rarely actually leave your transports, and that your wasting alot of squads with full points.
Theres nothing wrong with squads of 10 bladestorming, just make sure you have doom support, and make sure you have cover and wont get counter charged.

I can say that as an foootguard player, mechdar w/o dual autarchs are on.e of my easiest matchups. With dual autarchs they becoome a nightmare in objectives games, minimizin g number of turns i have to shoot em while still being able to threaten any objective on the board

Lanchester's square law holds very well for a mech army. The enemy can bring a lot of heavy weapons to bear at the 2000 pt level. In this way, you need as many tanks as possible on the board.

Well, the lists exhibit in principle the viable Eldar builds. Good work. In my local meta (Germany has no global tournaments, only the ToS at the 1500 pt level, no GT), mech Eldar does very well.
The armies are very streamlined but synergy is often what is missing in a spam list. A list based on Serpents and their weapons may have problems to destroy a scoring unit deployed in cover. Here outfllanking units can be helpful such as Warwalkers. I noticed that they have some synergy even with Serpent spam lists.

My point on outfilanking Warwalkers is that they can disrupt enemy plans. In the recent RTTs they came in and often did a great job - tying up a large Wyche squad deployed at an objective, taking on some heavy wepon teams and causing havoc behind the IG lines, tying up Long Fangs the whole game through. This is what a Serpent spam list is lacking. It can hardly become personal.

A witch squad would be 90 points in your opponents favor.
I dont understand how they cause havoc in an IG Line, Because the Hydras, Heavy Team Fire, and Meltas can literally bang out 9 walkers in a turn.
If you dont have an autarch, which you wont in a good Walker List, your 6 skimmers will get shot to bits with no return fire as your 9 walkers dittle around.
Not to mention they DONT get guide and fortune which is the whole point of the list.
I honestly dont see how out flanking them makes any sense at all. Automatically Appended Next Post: New List
