I started BB in 94 with a undead team and by this time it was nothing like overpowered! Later however when you could field 4 ghouls along with 4 wights, then it was.

Today, with 4 ghouls an 2 wights it's a balanced team IMO, just fine for a slightly experienced player.

Maybe it was because I played for an American Football team when I was younger then! Kind of already knew how to make pockets and use Wide Receivers etc

Or because you had some really lame opponents
Aside from kidding, picked alone, mumies are overpowered with a ST of 5, but moving with an undead team is a pain in the . Ghouls have M 7 and AV 7, so OK, they have dodge and they can make their way to the goal line but they are not good receivers, they are not fast compared to their equivalent in most of the other teams and have no ball dedicated skills.
Wights are just common blitzers, not bad, but not incredible either.
Zombies and Skeletons are just the meat you put between your opponent's team and the goal line don't expect them to get the ball or to crush a bunch of blitzers.
Oh, and re-rolls at 70K?
Don't mistake me, Undead are by far my favorite team and will always be, I know how to use any of my players efficiently, but as a whole, I don't see how undead teams are overpowered, we're not talking about dwarves

Blood Bowl still GW best game ever.

Is the latest actually CRP v2?

Blood bowl is amazing.

I played version 1 in mid 90s as well as FUMBBL, just great fun.

For me developing the team was the best. Had an orc thrower w agility 4, was superb!

High elf teams were the way to go though, freedom of manoeuvre w all that agility and good armour.

Looking over the changes from the earlier 3rd ed rules, you can tell that they were concerned with some of the troubles of leveling a team up too easily. Mummies and other big guys with strength 5 only have access to strength skills (so they can't have Block). They did something similar with stunty guys (they only get Agility skills). Back in the day, I was playing a lizardman team, and the fact that the skinks could take general skills really put them over the top (I had this killer with block and dauntless).

I've been meaning to pick up the Sarcos team from Impact so I can see how they play now.

By the way- anyone looking into the current version of the game should make sure to find the Chaos Pact, Slann and Underworld teams. They were to be included in the latest version of the LRB, but GW nixed them because they don't produce minis for them.

Hrm- I actually rather liked their 20th anniversary human team. But to each his own.

Over on talk fantasy football, they've put together a list of alternative minis by team. A lot of them are cheesy, but go ahead and take a look. For humans, they have

The copy and paste here is looking a little wonky, but the links should work. I noticed they don't have the Apes of Wrath up yet.

Of course, the other option you have is to use minis that you got from somewhere else and turn them into blood bowl players. Right now, I'm planning on doing that with some of the extra minis from the Sedition Wars kickstarter. I mean, they give you minis in sets of twelve- they're just asking to be turned into a team. I'm planning on doing something similar with the 12 extra strain too.

Blood Bowl is alive and well!

http://www.Bloodbowl-game.com Is the home of Blood Bowl Legendary Edition. Boasting 20 playable teams, the turn based mode plays *JUST* like the board game, its rules are governed by Games-workshop and they use the LRB you would use to play TT. £30 or less

http://fumbbl.com/ Is the home of a full LRB digitlised Blood bowl. Its free, but I personally have had issues with there playerbase. but thats a moot point. £free

http://www.Games-workshop.com TABLETOP WOOO.

So running down:

Blood bowl legendary Edition = Graphically superior, great for Fast games / leagues with people all over the world while you cant get a TT game in

fumbbl = Graphically inferior, good for games & leagues, wide player base but can be a pain. Good for games while waiting for a TT game

Blood bowl (GW) The original. Nuff said. Play the other two while you wait for a proper TT game

Latest on that (though you didn't hear it from me ) is that dreadfleet has made them a lot more cautious about this as a potential release so the chances of it happening this year are very low. There are allegedly a couple of team redesigns/resculpts completed now though.

I had thought they only wanted to put out boxed games on years that don't have a new Warhammer Fantasy or 40k edition- to pad the accounts in the dryer seasons as it were.

Of course, I could have told you that Dread Fleet wasn't going to sell like Space Hulk. It doesn't have twenty years worth of people in love with the game. I mean, most of the things I read about the unveiling included pure sadness that it wasn't a new box set for Blood Bowl.

Now, if they bring back older games, I'm totally on board. I'd love to see new Heroquest, Space Crusade and the like. But I don't have any fond memories of Dreadfleet, and could easily pass it up for Super Dungeon Explore.
