I like it, I just didn't know it was a turtle until this model. The picture didn't really show that through.

I meant "Armored Ork Squiggoth" in a conversion sort of way. Not as a "THEY RIPPED OFF GW" sort of way.

Sorry for the confusion.

I wasn't referring to your post Kronk. It certainly would make a great base for an Ork Squiggoth.

I don't know....it's such a weird howdah. It's less weird than I remember from the art, they've added more detail to the huge column thing that the RT era missile launcher is sitting on. It'll be interesting to see how the model breaks down and how many people convert that front bit as a result.

The rules are terrible, the model is ok. Honestly I will never put one on the table over a sentry/cannoner but for a gift I'll get one just for a centerpiece model.

You'll just be establishing a terrible precedent of centerpiece escalation, forcing you to buy the Skorne Colossal thing, the Skorne Super Colossal thing, and finally dressing up as a tortured baby elephant.

I'm from the future. The future of space

What a disappointment.

The battle engines have been hit or miss, but with this one, it's like they stopped trying and gave skorne a big turtle for lulz.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

If you put the Cauldron in the lower middle section of the howdah you'll be well on your way to making an angry, blood-filled, tea pot.

I think kroot's point is that the idea of putting weapons on a
giant turtle thing isn't really proprietary.

Not totally sure about the model- will have to see it in-person. The Legion one, for instance, looks really impressive in-person, but I wasn't sure about it when I first saw the pic. Would love to have another angle on this! (Maybe there's a 360 view on the PP site)

Of course the damn thing "lumbers across the battlefield!" The weight of that armor means the way to defeat is is simple:

1. Find a big hose.
2. Make ground very wet.
3. Watch super-turtle get stuck.
4. Drop artillery.

Not a fan, it has way too much armor to be feasible for a creature, and no segmentation. It couldn't turn!

That logic would work on any kind of walker in the "real world."

I <3 pokemon.

Anyway, the 360 doesn't make it look like a tortoise so much as a giant
lizard. Someone on the pp boards said komodo dragon or some other
lizard.

I can't get into the model. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not awesome.

I'm telling you guys, it's an anklyosaurus...

This also fits in with the whole idea that they're heading towards a dino theme... We've got the Archidon, the Battle Engine, and will probably continue with the Mammoth.

According to some things I've seen on PP's forums, it might be more of a giant lizard, and not a prehistoric elephant...

How exactly do mammoths fit into a dino theme?

*sigh... It'd be great if you read responses before you posted.

I understand that Mammoths are prehistoric elephants in our world. But considering that WE HAVE NOT SEEN THIS BEAST, it's pure speculation furthered by this post:

http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?99817-SPOILER!-Hordes-Colossals-Named&p=1336854#post1336854

PPS_Dougseacat wrote:I have been told by Professor Pendrake that he would like to apologize for an apparent misidentification of what he thought was a creature called a "Mammoth." Apparently his notes got a bit muddled. This is quite understandable given his recent exposure to the skorne language and not being entirely versed in the particulars. There is a skorne word meaning "tremendous sized beast" which is very similar to that applied to a specific creature that you have yet to see.

In other words, I would not base your preconceptions on what a Mammoth might be based on either the Monsternomicon II or the Witchfire Trilogy. And in general, as I have said repeatedly, looking at the old RPG stats for a given creature are not generally guaranteed to tell you much about how that creature will be interpreted in HORDES. Good examples of why this isn't a particularly great idea include both the Warpwolf and the Gorax but extend to many other creatures.

Before Doug said this post, people were assuming the mammoth was a large beast seen in the old Witchfire Trilogy adventure, or the Monsternomicon 2.

I only offer the speculation of a large sized beast being a lizard, considering they have just as many lizards for their beasts as they do elephants. Yes, it makes sense to name an elephant beast mammoth, but at the same time it makes more sense that it probably wouldn't be based on said thing because of Doug's post.

It's significantly better than the artwork, but the concept in general is a little meh.

Kind of how a feel about the whole Skorne line, to be honest. Love the beasts, hate the warrior models
