just a quick update of what ive been working on for the last few nights.....

Basilisk is finally painted! ive had this sitting on my desk unpainted for a month now, so i decided now was the time to get it done.

im pretty happy with how it turned out... i dont usually weather my tanks as much as i did this one... i like the clean look of a freshly painted and well maintained tank, but i thought id make the main cannon look well used, by adding paint chips, carbon and some rust.

next up is a small project ive been working on since watching the opening sequence of 'act of valor' ... here is my rendition of a HALO Jumper ... i plan to paint this on the weekend and have him mounted to the rear door of my vendetta... ready to jump out.

used a valk door gunner body as a base, tank crew arms , pilot head.

planning on him wearing DCU with black parachute and combat gear... maybe a blue/gray visor

lastly im putting up a few better pictures of my main commander General Petraeus and his communications officer captain blake... wanted to do some better close ups as im not really happy with the size of the composite picture... this is part of an ongoing effort to upload better pictures while i find the time to do so..

Okay, I love that tank. I may have to steal some of those ideas if I ever do an artillery company (which I am sure I will down the line).

The Halo jumper looks awesome too. Would make a really cool Marbo too. I may have to steal that idea for mine if I ever get around to it.

And the commander looks awesome too.

may i add a bit of crtizism to your otherwise splendid looking parachute trooper?... the whole mini looks highly detailed and i really like it... just his parachute backpack looks still to bare... here i think you should add an extra dose of detail like bands and maybe a zipper? something to break up the bigger space in the middle...

the basislik looks stunning... love the control mechanism... looks like an actual working piece

i totally agree with you... i need to add some more detailings to the chute... by adding more detail it will also bulk it up a bit which il be happy with too... also thinking off adding some PABS to his boots for the rough landings.... i shall have something better later to show you

Awesome new input, I love the parachute trooper! And I agree, some chute-detail would make him even more awesome.

ok so i modified the parachute somewhat by adding a zip and a couple of strap lines to it... im much more happy with it now.. except that after editing the photo... noticed i messed up the zip a little... but from normal veiwing distace it looks fine and should look ok when i paint it..

also working on a few other conversions atm...

heres the start of my creed stand in...

insted of him having 2 super hitec laser pistols, i chose to give him a couple of oversized hi caliber 1911's ... not too sure where to go on this model... i could go down the big flappy cape direction.. but im not a big flappy cape kinda guy... and with this guy being a general, hes unlikely to be carring much equipment...
any ideas? perhaps more pistol mag pouches and a helmet hanging off his belt... sword? i just dont know..

next is a little veteran unit ive started working on based on US special forces in afghanistan...

this unit will be made up of old catchans i have lying around, and converting them to have better equipment, chest rigs, pakols , dishdash , backpacks and of course the massive SF beards...
if any of you have any suggestions for this build please let me know... im even consideriong swapping their weapons for small m4's or even ak's

next... heres a couple of snipers i converted in september...

these may get a repaint... my painting style has changed and improved since i started and now im just not sure if im happy with them... i plan on making lots of converted snipers from cadian plastics and maxminis barretts anyway so i may just retire these guys compleatly.

ok lastly the big conversion... my WIP vulture made entirely from a valk kit with 5mm and 1 mm plasticard...

ok heres the details.. so its basically a valk without the cargo area... the two masts have been combined to create a single shaft on which the rear fins are attached...
the front has had a magnetised 180 degree heavy bolter turret mounted on the nose and the nose also has a moveable IR painter added.

because of the shape change , for the wings feet to touch the ground i have added 10mm worth of plasticard to the wings and now it sits really snug to the ground... the weapons will be mounted on the pylons attached to the main body..not the wings... im a few weeks off of ordering the punisher cannons for this. although all weapons will be magnetised so can enjoy all options and loadouts.

c's and c's are always welcome... thanks for looking!

your counhts as creed... i really like that gunslinger attitude! i wouldn´t add a helmet... instead eiter a rolled up berret in his side pouch of his trousers or a cap hanging just from his belt...

the vets remind me a lot of dwarves...lol...but i like their look!

and that new version of the parachute backpack! yes...that´s good looking stuff!

besides...that valk is stunning... very clean looking plasticcard work !

cheers,vik

For Creed, might I suggest a cloak (Or a trech coat over his shoulder) and some extra armor since he's wearing carapace.

Great work on all of this by the way!

Perhaps a communicator or radio strapped somwhere, like on his chest or back.

Or some sort of map or command device strapped to one of his legs like a pilot would have?

Just something to add to the 'command' feel.

That Vulture is bad-ass! I might have to steal the single-tail idea from you when I get to my Vendettas (that won't be transporting dudes).

I also like the Basilisk and that modular Chimera is almost exactly like a project I'm attempting - the only difference being that I'm using a complete scratchbuilt chassis instead of the base Chimera.

Looks great so far, and I anxiously await further updates!

much thanks for all the input everyone... so heres what i got... i think the sculpting is finished on this... i dont want to over do it...

anyway...

so hes got..

beret with cap badge
harness with quad pistol mag pouches
groin protector
modular kneepads and elbow pads
two kydex pistol holsters
PRR in pouch mounted on belt with whip antenna
tactical wrist band ( map holder)

might add a knife once the majority of its painted.. there is a little space on his belt.

should go into paint tommorrow... im not fully sure how yet to base him... proberbly on a 50mm base on top of a rock.. to make him look important... or i may wait till i start on my kell stand in..

ok.. so for the rest of the night i think im gonna paint up another ogryn... i think i may tackle the female one...im sure she will get alot of people talking.

Awesome conversions, really like the style. Subbed.

Your scratchbuilt manticore made me laugh though, no offense, but it's way beneath your overall standard.

Some really nice conversions in there, the halo warthogs being my favourites

Was it difficult fitting the guardsmen into warthogs?

put the base coats on the fem-ogryn... shes almost all skin... hard to paint...testing my patience

yeah... dispite how much gear my creed stand in has got on, it really dont look to overloaded and im really happy with that.

you not the first person to say that and i take zero offence to it... this was the first vehicle i scratchbuilt, and lacks alot of the details of my newer tanks.... in my head when i designed it i was thinking ' big us army MLRS manticore with a missle rack that goes up and down'.. in actuallity it was a bitch to build and i got severely bored and just finished it without almost all the details i had planned for it... because it lacks detail it also got a crappy paintjob too to match... i really need to learn to make rivets as its instant detail... please someone link me a tool i can buy on ebay to make rivits...

i will be going back to the manticore and giving it an overhaul.

i aint been on dakka dakka very long... week or 2 maybe... so im not suprised... i get bumped off the first page after a few hours lol...

fitting the guardsmen in the warthogs is pretty easy... firstly the drivers are from the sentinal kit, hence why i got only armoured sentinals lol... ive used the figures for the warthogs... anyway to make them fit, you need to shallow off their ass and back of legs, to take about 1.5mm off of its ass and then cut off 2/3rds of one of the guys feet to make him fit... once the drivers in place you cant see the cuts... il put up a pic or two tommorrow hopefully . the worst bit is making the gunner stand in the correct position... it was very awkward to make him stand and hold the gun at the same time.

TheLordOfSins wrote:Wow! Your creed is brutal! He looks far tougher then creed really is! lol

id like to think so... i havent named him yet but hes alot younger than creed and the EDF provide far supreior military training than cadia guardsmen receive... i reckon my guy could take creed no problem!

That's because skin tends to not have very many rivets.
