Loving the paint here, all the models are excellent, do you mainly airbrush or brush brush? I have to ask what the key is to getting such gorgeous faces?

"You are like a son and together we have all but conquered the galaxy. Now the time has come for me to retire to Terra. My work as a soldier is done and now passes to you for I have great tasks to perform in my earthly sanctum. I name you Warmaster and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from mine own mouth. But words of caution I have for you for your brother Primarchs are strong of will, of thought and of action.

@Million: I totally agree with you on the DC dreadnought, I need to revisit him with some chipping effects and dirt effects

@Brokksamson: thank you for the kind words. The only airbrush work, is on the Wight Kings cloak, as he is the recent one of the bunch... And it didn't go that well. Not enough contrast, but its a hard tool to master. But haven't used it for anything other than that. But I'm working on a rhino and a simple Mephiston conversion atm where I'll be using the airbrush a lot.
As for the faces, you just gave me the idea to make a tutorial on it for the Mephiston model. But I'll give you the method on paper here:
White primer
Watered down dark brown
*all layers from here are watered down heavily*
Start from a dark skin colour, preferably a mix of dark brown and dark flesh
Medium flesh, staying away from the recesses and concentrating on the midtone effected areas
Light flesh on the highlight areas
Mix of light flesh and bone white on the extreme highlights

Hope that helps, and stay tune for that tutorial and more

Wonderful pieces. How did you get such a neat border on the Overlord's shoulders as they're not moulded on are they?

@Valkyrie: I started with the blue marble effect on the entire shoulder area. Then I carefully marked out the rim pattern with black, and then even more careful fill in the black border with copper leaving a thin line of black all around, creating the effect of the golden rim being raised. It was probably the most time consuming part of the entire model, and I was surprised myself that it wasn't moulded on the model when I first got it.

@racta: thank you very much! I'm getting better at it, but I'm not quite there yet

Hey Chaize, I really like the newer tones on your BA. I have some to paint on an old Space Crusade set and wanted to go for a more orangey 2nd ed look, like those you have done.

What colours did you use?

Thanks

@Gapow: i must admit that the red tones are all the same in real life. Maybe there is a slight variation, but the main reason is that i lost my original color presets in Photoshop, and had to create a new one, wich is more acurate.
But the red recipe is scab red as base and then layers of blod red on top and a final glaze of red ink on top of the orange line highlights.

@wolfmerc: tanks a bunch!
