Hey there!

Ive been painting since january last year and i am currently trying to muster up an Blood Angel force.

Completed models:
17 Tactical Marines
5 Assault Marines
5 Assault Terminators
5 Death Company
1 Dreadnought
1 Rihno
Commander Dante
Astorath the Grim

Whats in store for me is boosting the amount of Assault Marines and Death Company, plus a Death Company Dreadnought. I think thats a decent starting force with which i could play some games of with.

The following pics are kinda of teasers, because ive just build a very basic light box and just wanted to snap some pictures to see how they would turn out. So enjoy, and please comment, as it will help me with my painting immensely!

Tac Marine

DC Marines

Termi Sgt.

Astorath the Grim

Commander Dante

And last but not least, RT era Rihno in DC markings! im really unsure on the wheatering here.. I find it hard to do chipping and rust at the same time, as i really wanted it to look like it had been to hell and back. But you decide if you like it or not

Well, thats it for now! the full army and individual pics are en route. But as always, please comment on them as it helps me with my painting!

Cheers

Love your paint jobs! Great rich reds and the weathering on the rhino is top notch. I'm also very impressed with the hard edge highlights on the black armor, very subtle but well done. I've never been able to master highlighting black armor myself. One thing I would suggest is adding a layer of ice blue or white to the lightening effect on the power weapons, it really makes them pop a bit more. Over all great painting, you should be proud of this army.

hehe, i like it. But maybe because i got for free from a friend but then again its for my DC guys (without jumpacks) so i found it fitting that they would be handed the old beater, to cruise around in and cause mayhem..

@ Col. Kurtz: The weathering was the hardest thing to do, because i was so worried that i would destroy the paintjob, with a bad result. But it looks like i kinda nailed it. The edge higlighting on the black armor was done one section at a time, meaning one arm at a time, one leg at a time. That ensured me that i only had to concentrate on a small portion of the model, and i then could walk away and scream my lungs out and punch someone, because of the tediousness of doing black armor lining But then suddenly you have completed the sections and the models done! Great rejoice.. until the next one

But then again, i like to complain

Cheers guys!

I love the tone of your reds. Very rich, much better than the orangy red some blood angels end up as. The faces look fantastic as well.

Red recipe:
white primer
thinned down Scab Red until a smooth surface is obtained
Badab black wash, mostly in the crevices of the model
another layer of Scab Red to tiddy up the black wash
drybrush of Blood Red
edge higlight with Orange
and then finally a wash of Red Ink with a small amount of Badab black mixed in it

I am digging the terminator too, i love conjuring up cool bases. as for the Stormraven.. i have a strong animosity against the model and i really want to flesh out the basic army choices before venturing into vehicles.

But thanks alot for stopping by and commenting, all of you!

Well... Maybe I wouldn't mind a free one either. ^^

Again... you really did a great job on those.

The gripe about it, is the roaring obviuos Space Wolf skull on the face plate. Tried to remove it, but it had litterally merged with the tank hull. So I painted it up in DC red and bone.. Even wolves arent safe from the red thirst Lol

The models look awesome, I love them. The only critizim is the power weapons. The dark blue it a little different and also could imho have more crackling out of them. Also I personally don't like the red on the death company, it looks too rich, but that colour looks great on everything. Third I think the green wax on purity seals looks better on regular blood angels than the blue, and red or purple is great for death company. But otherwise it's absolutely amazing, good job.

So, no Blood Angels this time, been knee deep in school work and exams. But I gave myself a treat for writing the first term paper.. and the prize was a box of Necron Warriors.

Now i wanted something different, something to try out new techniques on, so my choice fell on Necrons. Im not a huge fan of the new fluff, but im digging the new models, and the pure visuaal aspect of a new army is enough to get me started

So in order to get a fast little 500 point game going, i would need at-least one troop choice. Im gonna pick up the battleforce soon (my flgs still have it at the old price) and that'll flesh out the project nicely, but for starters, just a box of warriors.

Now, i thought that this would be a walk in the park and be a great way to master my drybrushing and be sloppy and fast with the last of the old washes. But being a massive researcher on everything new I'm about to try out, i stumbled upon Ron's great Necron tutorial here . I was kind of bummed of the "lack" of drybrushing in the tutorial, but decided to go a head and try it out.

The end result Ron posted really hit the feel i have of Necrons, ancient, dirty and rusted. I think I did the tutorial justice, but judges for yourselves. It should be noted that i have no pigments, so i had to let that one slip, i tried with some ground up pastels, but I only used them on the bases to create some contrast on them. It worked, for the most part, so I'm gonna wait for some real pigments to try them out on the models themselves. Also i opted for a lighter drybrush on the gauss weapons and giving them a liberal wash of thrakka green and badab black, so that they would stand out more from the main part of the model.

So, enough rambling, picture time!

So that's it for now, back to hit the books. And remember, I got the tutorial here check it out if you're starting Necrons. It's a great way to get those more simply models done in a jiffy..

Cheers!

Beautiful models! Such great, great details and paintjobs. Your models are very nice, although I would suggest that you put a tiny bit of weathering on your Infantry.

Thanks for the kind words! I am thinking about wheatering on the Necrons, but i want to achieve that rusty and rusty feel with pigments. I am really hooked on trying them out, after all the cool results I've seen with them.

pigments are fantastic and really do the job when it comes to weathering. fantastic looking blood angels! The necrons seem a little plain to me, but I'm sure after weathering they'll be just as great!

I'll be honest, when I saw the title of this thread "Blood Angels and Necrons" I thought I was going to see a BA commander and a Necron fist-bumping.

That said, the blood angels are excellent and the necrons have some nice rust going on. I'm not a fan of the green rods (the new Immortal gauss weapons are fantastic though). I'd be interested in seeing a Wraith or some Lychguard done up like this.

Hey there!

Okay, so I finished off these three champs while writing a paper for my final exam.
So I tried to get a different red on these guys, just to see what'll look like, and mostly because I ran out of the old GW Red Ink, so i had to revise my 'red recipe' to accommodate for the final red glaze they usually get.

I think it turned out alright, its more leaning towards the Rouge Trader BA red, and not the more vibrant red that i use to do. But these are the last three that needed painting for my two tactical squads. So they are now FINALLY done..

Normal flamer

This guy has a kitbashed combiflamer, but it'll count as a normal flamer in-game, as i only had the flamer from the starter set.

Missile launcher

And a group shot..

I also wanted to try a new background for my photos, mostly because i got a bit of dirt stuck on the sensor, and it doesn't show up as much here, as it does on the pure white one. But its still highly noticeable. So im gonna have to fork out for a cleaning.. bummer.

In other news, I tried out the Micro Set/Micro Sol solutions for the first time, and damn does it works wonders! I did gloss varnish the shoulder pads first for that nice uniform surface. But the real magic is the Micro Set/Sol solutions. They work wonders. I accidently tore the decals in some places, but that was me being impatient and not taking the time to let the Sol liquid to do its business. So next time I need to wait some more, before handling them. But i really like the result, looks like its been painted on

So till next time, Cheers

@ Lysenis: Do you mean the little dangling thingy on the flamer guy's right shoulder pad?
Its basically the same method as I do my gems and eyes, but concentrating the highlights near the edge of the "blood". And then i threw in some speckles of white to try and simulate light hitting the blood vial.

Anyways, thanks for watching!

Cheers

Damn! it´s about time..

So im back in the world of painting after a rather lengthy pause. But some WIP and finished models on my shelve craved photo´s, and i really needed to get going with my main BA project. So this will serve as the beginning of the end for my BA. Im guessing my Necrons will get love next and then maybe some Nurgle, converted from Dark Vengeange.

Anyhoo, on with the pics.

Wight King, done for a friend of mine for his Vampire Counts. Awesome model, really fun to do.

Necron Lord. fething awesome pose! damn how I love this model and the size of it, it really towers over normal Necron warriors. But how I hate the first generation of finecast, especially with Necrons being so flimsy and fragile in their sculpts.. The surface area of most of the model was ridden with bubble holes and i had to re-sculpt his entire right foot and piece of his head gear.. thingy. So the extremely bad casting and the crooked staff (blow drier works miracles on those..) made me hate the thing from start to finish, it really took out the enjoyment of painting him and i rushed through it and am disappointed in the end result. Nontheless he's done and i can move on

Death Company Dreadnought, nothing much to say of him. Very clean and standard, will probably use him in a Death Company heavy list some time, got to try out his "blender" mode with the blood talons

And my reworked assault sgt. I made his pose a bit more epic and gave him some other weapon choices after actually READING the rules and codex

And a blast from the past! The same assault sgt. in his old paint job just for reference

SO there you have it. Please feel free to comment, and don't fell restricted to the models, i could use some c&c on my photography-fu too.

Cheers.

Loving your work! Although the death-company dreadnought is FAR too clean for an ancient beserk fighting machine. I'm a fan of the slightly more orange red that you got second time over, but I think that's because I'm a nostalgic old-timer and I remember the old 'Eavy Metal style from 2nd Ed 40K
