Don't be a troll.

MWG does A LOT to support the table top community and they are asking for donations. If you don't want to donate, don't.

I hope they do well with this game. I purchase all of my stuff from MWG and appreciate everything they do for the community with all of their vids and advice to help out new players learn new games, and their bat reps are top notch.

Yeh, I've subscribed to them on YouTube, I don't even play, I'm one of the few who just paint the models for fun, and I'm tempted to start playing after watching their videos. I'm going to donate when my next wage goes in, tempted by the $100. He's got a dream and I like how people are getting involved

I really want to contribute but with the new perks up I'm totally torn now! I was set on going with the $350 perk, lifetime gold vault membership and enitre set of miniatures, sweet deal. But now that you will be producing the second set, and have the $150 perk offering both, I don't know what to do!!! Is there a certain amount I can add if I go with $350 perk so I can get the second starter set? Please tell me, it's driving me crazy!!!!!!

Mathew,

I would not counter with the fact that people are getting free loot for donating to your project, or consider it begging. I would argue that nearly every major business endeavor starts with venture capital, either from Investors or the Bank. This usually involves in some cases, years of building a business case around an idea. Kickstarter and Indigogo simply make the consumers the venture capitalists. Instead of a single source investor or a few who will ultimately hold a majority share in the venture, it's the consumers or the customers rather who control the direction of the company. Likewise, some investors can ultimately pull out. I worked for an organization where the major silent investor passed on, and his surviving family literally closed and locked the doors on us on a Friday afternoon. Crowd sourced funding is a great way for people to invest with minimal risk, and the opportunity for great gain. Really, if each fan boy were to invest $20 USD and the whole project tanked, what would anyone really be out?

I guess what I'm saying is, I don't think you need to feel like you need to defend yourself Mathew, I think it's an intelligent move. Imaging asking the bank for 10K to make little toy soldiers?

I can see why you would say this, but remember that those who contribute get models, so essentially you are pre-ordering the miniatures.

Some people see this as "begging" for money, but if that is the case, then anybody who tries to get customers into their store (online or offline) is begging for money. In this case people not only get miniatures, but get to feel like they are the part of the development.

And to answer the question about metal or plastic, we will most likely start with metal as it is cheaper to get off the ground. The $2000 per miniature includes all the concept art, illustration, sculpting, mold making, and production costs to get enough miniatures to cover what people should get as perks, and to have more miniatures on the shelf afterward to sell.

I'm from the future. The future of space

This is an awesome example of the power of the web in connecting makers and customers to form capital without the need for traditional distribution, banks, etc., (though their involvement can come later).

I just can't bring myself to buy a miniature sight unseen though. I'll definitely be waiting to see renders, masters, and the like.

Absolutely love the X'Lanthos concept art. Totally fabulous. The weapons art made me squee.

EDIT:

I poked through the miniwargaming.com forum about the rules and found this post:

http://www.miniwargaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=65251

I noticed this:

Experience Test

1. Roll 2d6.
2. Must roll equal to or lower than Experience.

It's the exact same leadership and command mechanic as Warhammer, 40k, Warmachine and Hordes.

And it's "roll low is good" when everything else in the game is "roll high is good."

Please pick one (high or low is good) and find a way to stick with it.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.
