The gold is amazing! The afterburner is seriously amazing. Your skills with a brush and paint are top notch.
I can't help but think the powerfist on the standard bearer looks bigger than normal.

You could strap a pantsless ork on something and make it look Imperial with enough Aquillas and Purity Seals. -Da Butcher

Thank you all for the comments, it means a lot!

Eggroll wrote:Looks good LutherMax. Only suggestion I would have is the put a bit more work into the banner. The wings and the robe on the banner could use more varying colours so it stands out better.

I know what you mean about the banner. I actually tried a couple of other things before settling on this. I wanted it to be dark and moody to suit the Marines but agree it could use some more variation.

great work

Thanks kb. I used Vallejo Model Air paints – white, Light Sea Blue and Insignia Blue.

Outstanding job. OSL, power weapons and jump packs are awesome. I like most of the black areas and I appreciate that you didn't overhighlight them but the shoulder pad on the standard bearer seems sorta unfinished.

What did you do to get that afterburner effect?
Is there a how too, on how to achieve it?

I love it.

The models are fantastic.

It's called Object Source Lighting (OSL). There are quite a few tutorials on the internet. Very hard to pull well but this is an excellent example of awesome OSL.

Thanks for the comments guys

I stole the thruster idea from Eggroll on this very forum. Basically I spray a medium blue paint over the whole thruster, then a smaller area in the middle with light blue, then lastly an even smaller area with white. Add some white edge highlights and you're done! It's not massively difficult if you're practiced with an airbrush, the trickiest bit is getting your aim right and not overspraying when doing the light blue and white.

Coyotius, thanks. I know what you mean about the shoulder pads. The highlights are actually more prominent in real life than in the pics, but I think the shading could be darker. I basically started with dark grey, then used Badab Black to shade them before adding some lighter grey highlights. However I don't think Badab is dark enough to give good contrast, so I might use a black ink wash next time.
