I just love the job you do on the power weapons and the jet pack jets... just makes the whole figure jump! Well done man.

Just curious, why didn't you glue on wings? It would look so awesome, judging by your current painting standards.

Thanks for the compliments guys

To be honest, I don't like the wings. I didn't buy the models when they first came out because I thought they looked a bit... pretentious... But then I saw one online without wings I thought it looked pretty badass.

The sword effect is quite common these days but I'm happy with the way the little power veins came out. I stole the jetpack idea from Eggroll on these very boards

Well I must say that is some nice paint jobs there. I especially like the jumppack.

This is also a first for me to see someone who didn't like the wings but liked the nipples...

I love everything about them! Especially the swords.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

There are so many things I like about these models. The power weapons are absoutely beautiful, that lightning effect must have taken a while!

Really like the gold, just the right shade to not look too pretentious. Just enough weathering too, and wow, those glowing vents :0

I think removing the wings really makes the face the focal point of the model, first time I've really noticed just how different those death masks are. Badass describes them very well I think.

One day maybe I'll get this good. Just give me another 5-10 years or so...

If I had to ask you one thing, how did you go about painting those swords?

This is probably one of the few examples of reflecting light from the power weapons I actually like, It's very subtle but yet noticeable.

My reaction was to take said die, and hurl it out the window of the 3rd floor of our student union. I then placed a Commissar model next to the rest of my dice pile. They immediately began performing much better.

Thank you all for the kind comments. I dropped Eggroll a note to come check out the pics, he'll be pleased with all the jump pack comments as I stole the thruster idea from him lol

A friend of mine said the exact same thing! I actually don't mind the nipples, and yeah I guess it is weird but the things that bothered me were the wings which I left off, and the knee pads which I filed down and built back up into normal power armour ones with green stuff. I just don't like those artificer ones – they look like hot crossed buns!

Check out the awesomepaintjob video on YouTube where he paints a Space Wolf 13th Company marine. That's where I first saw the technique, although I use Vallejo Model Air Insignia Blue (which is a very dark blue) instead of black. The veins were painted with very thin white paint (and a very thin brush!). Just lightly 'draw' them on, then go back over some of the lines but not all with a second coat. Then a third coat just on the dots where the lines cross and meet.

Those power swords are fantastic.

The afterburners look good but something about them matching the swords does not look right to me.

Aside from that these are well.... Simply fantastic.

It looks really good. The only thing I would hit is the blacks some more, they are to flat...maybe some kind of highlight subtle touch to give it a tad more character.

Fantastic job!

In my opinion it's the wings that ruins these models, but with jump packs, they look awesome!

Its been said many times on this thread already, but I dig the jump pack and the power weapons. I also like the black on the models. Most players (including myself) go white with the details, the black without the wings definitely gives them a more sinister look rather than celestial. Clean paintjobs, excellent work!

Wow.

Much of what I want to type has been typed for me, but I will repeat that the subtlety of the reflected lighting from the power-weapons is top-notch.

Thank you all for your comments and kind words.

I am happy with the OSL, it's easy to overdo it but I deliberately kept it subtle on these guys.

As for the black wings etc, I actually did start off with them white but as you say Element206 they needed to be darker and more sinister!

Looks good LutherMax. Only suggestion I would have is the put a bit more work into the banner. The wings and the robe on the banner could use more varying colours so it stands out better.

i love the shading in the gold! makes them really stand out and they look really realistic to me!

i really hate the wings, so im glad to see that someone left them out (i was considering playing my blood ravens as blood angels and considered doing the same) and i absolutely love what you did with their kneepads! im currently looking for a low grade airbrush/compressor, and i hope i can try out those amazing powerswords and thrusters!
