Raven Guard.

In the novel Hunt for Voldorius, the White Scars notice that the RG's power armor servos are totally silent compared to theirs.

Their power armors are tweaked for total silent running.

Raptors. They are Raven Guard devoted entirely to stealth tactics. So anyone saying Raven Guard is actually saying Raptors, since by their specific division, they were the ones focused on sneaking.

And Alpha Legion is wrong for at least two reasons: 1. they aren't a chapter. 2. They didn't use stealth as a battlefield strategy. They use infiltration and spying, not suddenly ambushing you with a thousand marines.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Anyone saying Night Lords is also wrong (even aside from them not being loyalists and thus ineligible for the thread).

The Night Lords make use of terror tactics. While that sometimes means being stealthy, it's only a means towards a very conspicuous end: letting the enemy know you are there, and making them piss themselves in fear before you even start the battle.

Night Lords would pull the classic movie badguy "leave the last guy alive and tell him to tell his boss who did this" move. Raven Guard would kill everyone and leave no calling card.

Raven Guard are spec ops. Night Lords are the freaking mafia.

Grey Knights, can't get sneakier then teleporting in behind the enemy. Or making a shroud of darkness so you can't see them.

How can marines be stealthy though you could prob here them a mile off with power armour foot steps.

For having been in the Army, I think SM can walk stealthly with a power armor because even is I had 50+ lbs I could walk stealthly so I don't see why a super human with a power armor couldn't do this its all in the feet!

Trenching through a forest, with power amour can you really go unnoticed? You will leave foot prints esp if you are the size of a super human and got power armour on. I am better those are not little boot prints as well. How can you be stealthy if you can be tracked?

Landing on a planet, thunderhawk or drop pod. Your making allot of noise and can be spotted with the naked eye to. Teleporting who can see a space ship in orbit teleporting down troops?

No human I know

Seriously, do you tend to see all the satellites that orbit the earth?

Yeah, I totally see all those orbital launches in Florida from here in Missouri. Oh wait, no...

Turns out planets are slightly larger than a grocery store parking lot.

You would really have to define the "stealth" that you are talking about. Do you mean unable to be seen by the enemy or the best at ambushing?

IMO LotD are the stealthy one, kinda, well only when they arrive and leave. They come out of no where most of the time right in the middle of the enemy or behind them. Then they shoot ALL the bullets, make ALL the noise, kill ALL the xenos, then leave without a trace and never say a word the whole time.

To many unpainted models to count.

I don't think weight is as much of a problem as the fact that power armor itself makes noise as it moves. It has to robotically match the movements of whoever is wearing it. It's probably going to make whirring noises at its most quiet.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.

Also Mantis Warriors have special sniper teams, not scouts in training but actual SM battle brothers sneaking around and sniping filthy xenos.

I would say Raptors. Why? Because after looking at Lexicanum and IA 9, I realized that they were the closest in terms of Reasonable Marine tactics, which is exactly what I am going for.

Though I didn't realize that Mantis Warriors had devoted Sniper Teams.

What are your thoughts? Out of the stealthy chapters which do you find the "coolest"

Propably Raven guard.

Is there an absolute 'stealthiest' Chapter? There are plenty of Chapters whose doctrine deals with sneakiness, but there's no way to compare Chapters as a whole with each other on things like this, no metrics to compare that would let us work out which is 'stealthier'.

To my knowledge, the Raven Guard and Dark Angels among the original Legions tend to operate in more covert fashions than the rest, other 'stealthy' Chapters would probably be born of their gene-seed.
