Thanks for the detailed reply . One more question- could you tell me exactly how much space there is between the battlements on top of the walls? I'm wondering if a 40mm base will fit (perhaps a tight fit), since I can't make out the square pattern on the top of the thin walls with the battlements, I wasn't sure if there'd be room.
40mm = 1.57 inches
Broken wall pieces would be absolutely FANTASTIC . I was wondering how I'd represent "breaches" in the wall once that happened... that would be perfect for us wargamers

If your talking about the space between each merlon then the answer is 1/2 inch. What I think you are asking is, what is the distance from the front of the wall to the back? If this is the case then the answer is 2 1/2 inches in the castle from the video. Plenty of room for your 40mm base. Remember also that this product is still a prototype and is definitely still in the development stage so if you have strong feelings about size then please let me know. Feedback is very appreciated! :-)
Also, If the broken wall piece sounds useful to you I will gladly sub out any "regular wall piece" for a "broken wall piece". Once the kickstart is funded I will poll you and you can let me know then. Any other questions or comments feel free to send them here or through kickstart, modestmagic.com, facebook, twitter, or carrier pigeon. Carrier pigeon is preferred.
Modestly,

Fantastic, 2 1/2 inches is indeed plenty assuming that's the width of the area they can stand in on top of the wall (I definitely didn't explain that very clearly above, but I think you got it ).
I had just been thinking how I might want to swap some regular pieces out for the broken ones, so that will be a nice option to have once it is funded.

You've got me backing ya now. I have been looking for a system like this to do 2D dungeon type boards for a while and at the $60 mark you've got my business. I just hope 125 pieces are enough for a decent 4x4 board :/ Automatically Appended Next Post: Oooo doah kinda didn't think about it, but any chance of making endcap pieces?
You have you basic pieces
However I see the need to "cap off" the end of a wall if you just want it to be free standing rather then making boxes all the time
Then again I guess you could just cut off the two end pieces sticking out. on one side.

BlueDagger, he says the battlements can also be used as end caps, although I guess they'd need to be cut (maybe he'll produce them smaller for the express purpose of being endcaps, but they should be easily cut, I'd think).
Kickstarter wrote:Battlements. Saving lives for thousands of years! Can also be used as end caps to get rid of pesky flanges. (Note: When used as an end cap, may not save lives)
Someone pledge $15 to put it over $3K!
Projected total from Kicktraq is $10k right now, although I just want to see it get over the $5k mark . I wonder if it'd be a good idea for him to add more of the $500 level type options, as Charax mentions... the higher kickstarter levels really help get a project going! After the $150 level (what I went for) there was a pretty large gap in the rewards (just something custom, him coming to build it with you, but no "terrain heavy" rewards).
I think the $150 is a great deal, though, which is what got me to go for it rather than the $100 level.

Agreed, and it sounds like he wants to do more with it after this first design, too!
Also, someone posted this in the fantasy section of the forum. It shows the scale of the castle a bit better than the pic without figs on it (the castle is 33" x 33" x 10", as Modest Magic posted):

So many "wolfs" in this thread...
I am a wargamer-only, but might let the RPGers at the store know about this... seems like it could be really good for a GM to use in the "dungeon / maze" format he shows in the video, rather than as a castle.

Hey everyone, I posted an update to the kickstarter showing our new broken terrain piece and some fun new builds. You can check it out here

As always, your input is valuable to me as I'm not a wargamer. Let me know what you think. (Unless you don't care for my product, in which case, you should be ashamed!)
Thanks for the info so far guys :-)

Ah, on the "Updates" tab. Took me a few minutes to find it
Really cool! One possible thought on the large broken wall- it may be worth considering having the entire "V" in a single piece. Right now, you'd pretty much have to use two broken pieces next to one another to create a breach, and it'd be a Very large breach. The same thought may apply to the small piece... but not nearly so much, since two of those would make a more accessible "V".
It's awesome how quick you got that up after people suggested it! I'm not sure if I'll end up wanting any, though- I'm thinking I could pretty easily cut a "complete" wall into a broken one myself, using a razor blade, right? And then I'd get a bit more wall for my money rather than losing some before it even gets to me (i.e. the part I cut out may be useful as a broken piece in another area of the wall). What do you think?
Here's a pic of the dice tower, also posted on the "Update" tab, for the click lazy
On second thought, that looks pretty cool and useful, actually!

That is absolutely true and one of the beauties of working with a malleable substance like foam. But the idea of you taking a razor to a perfectly good wall piece makes me sad. So I've decided to include at least a few extra broken wall pieces into the rewards that have already been taken.
Also, in response to your comment on the large breach wall. While I thought it was pretty cool that you could use six broken wall pieces and get a breach, I now see what you mean about the size of the actual breach. I have a few ideas on how to correct this... To the drawing board!

Awesome how quickly you respond to feedback on here!
The extra broken wall pieces sound great and would keep me from harming a perfectly intact one . Looking forward to seeing what you come up with on a possibly smaller breach (or one requiring less pieces, making it easier to swap in). That will be really useful in-game

That's a great point! I know several local Infinity players that go to great lengths to create their own modular terrain... something like this for a sci-fi setting could be a really good base for people like them to work with.

Infinity is exactly what I got this for either a killer close quarters combat board, lots of pieces for walls, or even brick buildings. Due to the height and LoS blocking ability it's great. Walls like these are timeless... Minus the ramparts.

Yeah, I was thinking the ramparts would make good end caps and if you cut it off the height of the wall then adhere it to the middle of a single wall piece you'll get a T section.
This will be a seriously epic looking board when I'm done I think.

The very first thing I want to say is thank you to everyone on here for providing me with valuable insight into the twisted minds of wargamers. You guys are great, these games are great, and I think I may be a fledgling wargamer myself now, because I can't stop thinking about marching huge armies around!
Of this whole experience the one thing that has been the most gratifying and surprising was the amount and quality of feedback that I've been given. The gaming community is one based on having fun. What better group of people to be a part of? None that I know of. Again, thanks a lot guys.
