My Libby Dreadnought with Wings of Sanguinius says otherwise!

It moves as Jump Infantry, just not like Assault Marines.

While them benefiting from the table wide rerolls to hit is definitely a plus for them. They don't have furious charge.

So you are paying more than 20 points a model for what comes out as being no more killy than the same books tactical marines. The only real advantage they have is they can take stormshields. But doing that makes your "assault squad" have single attacks because it removes their bolt pistols not to mention the huge sink in points.

When in doubt burn it, then burn yourself for doubting.

I don't want to be guilty about getting back on topic... but what about a CC-spec'ed BA Honour Guard? Feel no Pain, Furious Charge that cannot be picked out, decent stats, can be equipped to you liking.

Ok, it doesn't compete with Death Company + Lemartes. But they do what *you* want instead of chasing squirrels

OP was clearly talking about jump infantry.

It's either Interceptors or BA Jumpers. Both are really only great with support from other units, though.

BA Jumpers are Troops, and can bring meltas, but really only come into their own with Priests for FNP/Furious Assault.

Interceptors have very good shooting, can bone enemy deep strikers with Warp Quake, and have that awesome once per game 30" move + shoot. But again really want to be in a list with a Grandmaster to make them scoring.

Yes I was. And I don't know about BA jumpers because most people kind of gun for them because of the hype around them

45 points/model, but dual bonesword Shrikes are pretty decent.
55 points a model gives you WS5 S6 I5 A4 power weapon attacks that cause ID on a 3d6 Leadership test. And 3W.
Problems are cost an a 5+ armor save. :-/

Scourges flat arent good though, you need their upgrades. And already going for 22 ppm, they get pricey FAST

I said 10 Scourges with 4 Splinter Cannons. Most Jump infantry can't withstand 32 poisoned shots, or possibly 42 if they don't move.

But most jump infantry don't come out to be 260 points, have an 18" range on most stuff, a 36 on their special weapons, and only have a 4+ save. A squad of heavy bolter devs will rip them apart

Yeah, if you get lucky, but a squad of those against anything with a big gun wont do well.

Well, I suppose there is a super-unit I could make; lemme see

Marshal with Lightning Claws, Iron Halo, Terminator Honors, Bionics, Artificer Armor, Jump Pack, Frag Grenades 196
10x Assault Squad with 10x Storm Shields, Power Weapon 330
Master of Sanctity with Lightning Claws, Terminator Honors, Bionics, Artificer Armor, Jump Pack, Frag Grenades 201
3x Techmarines with Bionics, Servo-Harnesses, Thunder Hammers, Storm Shields, Terminator Honors, Jump Packs 570

Put them in a Land Raider Crusader with a Dozer Blade for 270

That's 1567 points.

And before you say it - BT Jump Pack guys can ride in transports because they are not Jump Infantry - they "move as" Jump Infantry. BT Codex, page 28

30x Death Company w/ Jump Packs
+ Lemartes
+ 3x Hand Flamer
+ 3x Inferno Pistol
+ 27x Thunder Hammer
+ 27x Powerweapon

= 2490 points.

Doesn't even include ICs yet (add 2 from HQ and 3 from Elite as needed).

If all DC dual-wield Thunderhammers, the unit with Lemartes kicks in at 3000 points exactly.

LOL, then conceded - the Land Raider goes up in a puff of 54-odd Str 9 attacks

Imperator Titan?

Admittedly his assault technique just involves standing on people, but that's close combat isn't it?

for 2000 points you could have 65 interceptors with halbreds. they would kill those death company before they could even strike back.
