Which is the best assault marine equivalent? Vanguard Veterans, Assault Marines, GK Teleporter Marines, Swooping Hawks, Scourges, Stormboyz, etc, etc. Which codex has the best one and why?

I'd probably go with GK teleporter marines, if it's not a vehicle, it's probably dead when they arrive and slaughter everything with S5 Assault 2 shots and then butcher what's left with force weapons. Swooping hawks are without a doubt the worst jump infantry in the game if not the worst unit in the entire eldar codex and are a strong contender for "worst unit in the game period" they're godawful, I mean they are like Chaos Spawn and Pyrovore level bad.

Kidding obviously, but I would say I agree with you in general, not sure if GK are the absolute best though, because they lack real mobility that most assault troops have

GK teleporters have exactly the same mobility that all troops with Jump Packs have...

And it depends on what you mean by 'best'

Best at what?

I looked over the codex and realized that the PTs make them jump infantry, woopsy. And best unit for their points value overall

Black Templar Assault units, what with the re-rolls and the furious charge makes them some of the better beaters.

If points are not an issue... 30-man-strong Death Company, kitted out liberally with Melta, Thunderhammers, Powerweapons, etc.. . Nothing can even remotely stand up to that.

Best always depends on the army/ your list and the enemy.

Yeah but they die easily, and rage makes them pretty unreliable.
I was going to suggest 15 DC+reclesiarch in a Land Raider. Re-roll to hit AND to wound, boo-ya!

10 DA vets with lightning claws and an interrogator chaplain with jump packs in CC they chew ork mobs

Thats if points arent a problem, but best for their points cost is what I said

I think Stormboyz are the best. They can move up to 18" and still assault 6. Plus they're still orks in the assault, which means tons of dice. Plus the Klaw Nob can get to those vehicles faster and smash em up. Also, Zagstruk is pretty awesome albeit a little expensive.

Actually, they'd probably be considered pretty awful. Damn.

Lightning claw assault termies with a chaplin in a land raider with Shrike supporing.

Reroll hits, wounds, have an assault unload and you are fleet.

Bring it.

Scourges with Splinter Cannons. Don't tell me they're crappy, being able to unleash 32 Poisoned Shots from a unit moving 12" a turn with a 4+/6++.

Ok what about old school Necron Pariahs???? impervious to....um just about everything and would cut through a LR like butter with a hot knife! Of course the new Necrons are really lacking in that area now but the Pratorians with a void blade and particle caster are not bad.
