Let's keep it cool guys. You can say opinions, but flat out insulting others for running units how they want it rude, and I don't want that on my threads.

Futhermore, I have decided to go with the whole PF and 2 meltas on one of my Assault squads, flamers on the other. so now I need to work out the rest of my army.

Here's what I have so far army wise:

What I want with this army, is a huge blob squad of Death Company, and lotsa DOA. I know you guys said Dev's work well with this for anti-tank, but is it better to invest in one or two squads of Devs? Tell me what you guys think!

HQ:
Reclusiarch w/ Jump Pack, Plasma pistol ... 170

ELITES:

Sanguinary Priests (2) w/ Power Swords, Jump Packs ... 180

TROOPS:

Assault Squad 1 w/ Powerfist, Meltaguns (2) ... 235

Assault Squad 2 w/ Powerfist, Meltaguns (2) ... 235

Death Company (15) w/ Jump Packs, 2 Power Weapons, 2 Power fists, Thunder Hammer, Hand Flamer, Plasma Pistol ... 660

You might want to post this in the Army List section, you'll get more bites. What point total are you looking at?

Ideally you would want at least 2 Devastator squads.

Yeah, that sounds right. I should probably do that.

About 1500pts.

Ergh... Gonna have to cut some DC most likely.

15 DC with JPs is way, way too many. You will overkill everything, and having almost half your army uncontrollable doesn't sound like a good idea.

If you go this route, keep the squad reasonably small.

Current Record: 5 Wins, 6 Draws, 3 Losses 2000 points

Thats how I would play them if I had an inclination at all to play loyalist marines anymore. These people that play the Razorspam lists really just make me sick to my stomach. Ok if you want to have a small squad to hold an objective on your side of the board for the entire game then take a Tactical squad minus a vehicle and have them deploy onto it with a Missile Launcher or Lascannon in the squad. The rest should be Assault Squads/Death Company/Death Company Dreads with Bloodtalons.

My 2 cents

Sir, they are my toy soldiers, and will play with them however I please.

I also find it amusing that the manner in which I play with them is capable of making you ill.

If you're absolutely in love with Death Company, cut them back to 7 or 8, add Lemartes, and shove them in a Storm Raven. Replace the Reclusiarch with a Librarian with Unleash Rage and your choice of another power and you're golden. The points you save on jump packs will almost cover the cost of the SR, and it will let you deliver your DC to where YOU want them rather than where your opponent decides to lead them.

I've been hit or miss with the pair of Devastator squads though that could be a result of my (inexplicably foolish) choice to arm one with 2 plasma cannons and 2 heavy bolters rather than 4 plasma cannons. I'm waffling between getting a third or going with two pairs of Multimelta attack bikes since I want a little bit of mobile firepower, but don't want something that stands out as the lone vehicle on the board to eat all the lascannons.

Would a Storm Raven fit in with the DOA theme exactly?

I reckon so. I run double ravens, jump marines, talon dreads, and speeders. I love it

I think you'll find that Death Company aren't what you are expecting them to be. Far be it from me to tell you what to play with, but DC just aren't worth the points imo. Their uncontrollable nature makes them more of a liability than an asset.

If you really want to run a DOA army, consider using Dante. Here's a sample 1500 list:

1500pts

Dante

Honor Guard
-JP
-4x Meltagun

2x Sanguinary Guard

1x Vanguard Veterans
-JP
-4x Lightning Claws
-5x Storm Shields

2x Assault Marines troops w/ JP Sanguinary Priest and 2x Meltaguns

Put Dante with the Honor Guard, use it as a pinpoint AV murder group on the drop, then a roaming AV squad that can take out light infantry as well as tanks. Also gives Dante FNP to keep him alive. Use the Sang. Guard and Vanguard as anti-infantry and the regular ASM as either anti-infantry or anti-vehicle. I've successfully taken out squads of termies using the Vanguard Vets, so don't be afraid to assault big targets with them. Alternatively, you can play around with points and give them some fists as well.

IMO, I didn't really care for Dante as an HQ. I do love Sang. Guard though.

It's more of a fun army anyway, but I could possibly try this, and have two, small BA armies (1500 each). All I'd need to pull this off would be Dante, an honor guard squad, and the Vets anyway.

Thanks for the list though, perhaps I'll try it out!
