40k is a permissive rule system, meaning if they don't specifically say you can do something, then you can't.

Be sure to tell your future opponents how you plan on 'playing it as intended' so they can avoid you in the first place.

Wow.... Rage much?

inferno cannon uses a "template". Death Ray is a hairline. Like JotWW. Template rules also specify that you cant hit your own models with it. Death Ray does not. Any other unrelated issues you wanna cover here?

Dammit, where's the "like" button on this thing?

in response to a comment about how it directly relates?

Geez, I'm assuming you win all the good sportsmanship awards where you play.

You know what? Just try it at a tournament already. I'm sure the TO's will love to hear that conversation with the GW customer service rep before they disallow it.
the moral of the story is: unless you have irrefutable proof otherwise (see: more than a recorded phone conversation which can just be countered by another recorded phone conversation which claims the exact opposite is true), claims that go against how the majority of players think a rule should be played are going to be considered attempts at game breaking, and will almost always be overruled.
If you want to be that guy, by all means, feel free to challenge everyone else's decision. I'm sure people will be lining up to play you afterwards.

Let's wait for the next Necron FAQ before we get all bent out of shape over it. It really isn't that big of a deal.
The list doesn't need to do it to win. It is just a nice combo.

Fair enough.

Other than all that, though, it looks like a fun list to try.

This shooting into combat seems like it could end up as being almost as important for the next FAQ as evverliving after being swept in combat. The fact that if the models come out lots of people will want to do this.

Just remember that the height of the gun has to be factored into the range of a weapon. So the doom scythes weapons are going to be slightly shorter than you are thinking. Depending on the angle and the actual distance is going to be less than 12

It is a word, just in the same way that any one out side of 40k would say malan'tai is not a word. Its a word made of estimate and guess, so there probally should be an apostrophe between guess and timate, so guess'timate.
