Ok well I guess I'll be the negative guy, don't get me wrong it looks kInda cool but personally I think a horse should have nothing to do with astarties just makes no since they are just to weak compared to the tech of the time, I think the model would be more fitting as a night for fantasy.
But don't get me wrong it does look good but I personally would see it as very ugly in a game of 40k, I don't agree with TWC either so don't thing I'm just being picky. The concept as a whole just is dumb IMHO.

But you still get cavalry like Thunderwolves and Rough riders. And when everyone has guns everyone still hits one another with swords. It's not dumb if you compare it with the rest of the 40k universe, unless you think Rough Riders and TWC are dumb.

tbf when I made these I expected many similar responses like this. Its all part of my fluff, when Mordred took the children from planet Equunis, he instructed his techpriests to take some horses too. These horses were significantly altered with a synthetic equine 'geneseed' created by the top techpriests available to Mordred. The horses you see present, are not bred but bioengineered, their bones fused with adamantium to take the weight of a space marine, and their organs enhanced for a much more durable beast with a much higher stamina. Their muscles are far stronger than any normal horse, and around the major joints are aided by a piston system hidden under the flesh.
In real model terms too, compared to a cadian trooper who we shall say s 6ft tall, the horse would be about 8ft tall to its back. waaaay bigger than a normal horse. it dwarfs bretonian and empire horses.

Like I said it looks great and I'm sure that there are plenty of ways to integrate them with special fluff, but I personally just think riding any animals dosent belong in the 40th millennium.

Again, Thunderwolves are animals. And Rough Riders ride on animals. So they do belong in the 41st millenium if you go by the fluff.

And again I say I DO NOT AGREE if I have to say it again I don't think you are ever going to understand that I am giving my opinion, you must not have read what I said very well bc I said IMO or I think, but you must have read over that and just read what you wanted too.

Cheers guys, as always what I was really happy with paintwise in real life, looks a hell of a lot worse on camera, but these will only ever be tabletop standard.

tbh im shocked that more people weren't against the idea. I appreciate where your coming from, there are some things in 40k I dont like too, namely necons in general

To Optometris, thanks for taking good criticism, it is not like I don't like the model I really do. Just something I would see in fantasy not 40k, but that's to say the same about rough riders and TWC. But once again model does look good.

This is great, and furthermore it's fun. Who says SM's need to ride bikes. Big @$$ horses all the way!
But yeah, see what you can do with respect to tech'ing them up. The odd bionic implant etc, and particularly armour around the legs. At least on the front. You could even take old tac marines, cut off the greaves (legs) and scoop out the insides. The corvus armour would work particularly well with this i.e. no knee pads.
Only other comment... Flow Improver!! Thin that white!
But for a 'counts as' unit, this is going to be awesome.
I had a VERY expensive Black Templar unit mounted on quad bikes...SM bikes cut up with extra wheels from other sets...so much waste haha.

Most of the other horses already have shin guards, although I like your idea with the corvus armour, Ill investigate. Im a little unsure what to do regarding bionics, thought about a leg then decided I wouldn't be able to do it Justice, not with my current skill anyway.
Any idea on ways to tech up the horse, i.e. bits that I can fix onto the horses. Im pretty sure I have some spare guitar strings at my parents house I can graft on as pipework.
Yea painting white is the bane of my templars lol Although picked up some citadel Base Ceramite White the other day - its fantastic stuff, 2 maybe 3 coats tops does the job of like 6 coats of skull white. dries pretty nicely too.
Sadly this is all going on hold for the next two weeks or so while I move back to my parents over the summer.

This talk about space knights and space horses kind of reminds me of the "flying vampiricorn, that is on fire!" from wow
i love the idea of non-bike cavalry and the way you put it together but the horse needs more black templar colors it still seems very chaos right now but thats just my opinion.
