Eye of Terra.

Every modeller worth his or her salt has sanctified their model with his or her own blood more than once.

Once upon a time, in my exhuberance to get my Space Marines off the sprue, I put my Exacto knife right through my left middle finger.

That finger has been numb ever since.

I named that finger Perfidious after the the Chaos Marine that caused the wound.

Quite fitting. If I had a story like that related to a model I would fit it into my fluff. Perfidious the twisted finger...or something lol
As for the model I've damaged (or had) I was playing a game of 40k on base one time and had to goto the bathroom and when I came back one of my buddies kids had literally smashed several Russ tanks and swaths of infantry before my opponent seen what he was doing and stopped him. It wasn't my army and I split the cost of paying the guy back with the kids dad. $100 bucks each >_<.

There was this incident with a freshly sharpened knife and me building a hill..... carving towards my thumb
Needless to say I slipped and drove the knife into the depths of my finger; cutting parallel to the nail.
There was A LOT of blood. A LOT. I soaked several paper towels and left quite a few drops on the floor.... not a nice memory.....

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

I havn't cut myself yet but my first accident was when I had got my new trygon kit and had to go to church for my friends baptism. I was doing some quick painting before I left and dropped a whole pot of dark angels green on my white shirt!
My mum wasn't happy

A while back I used to paint in front of my computer (all the better to read online tutorials with) and I kept a small sheet of newspaper in front of the keyboard for it. One day I knocked over a whole pot of Blood Red, spilling it everywhere and inside the crevices of my keyboard. By the time I stopped flipping out about the mess and picked the pot back off its' side, it had drained about halfway and flowed everywhere. It got all over my hands and under my fingernails too, as I tried to use them to stop the paint pool from spreading futher across my desk.

Now I have a dedicated table for painting in another room.

Blood for the blood god! Totally filleted my finger before, a couple of times. I am amazed at what people go to the hospital for. Suck it up. Follow first aid and clean and dress the wound and dress it up tight and there's no reason for stitches. Also, spilling paint everywhere is a good sign that you need to use a palette.

In 4-5 years of hobbying, i've yet to injure myself in terms of drawing blood and/or leaving visible damage, despite repeatedly stabbing myself and slicing across various fingers with my hobby knife, spiking myself on CSM models, and supergluing myself to stuff.

In the knife cases, my flesh seems to just take it like a man and hold together regardless; it still hurt, but there's no visible damage.

CSM spiky bits are pricks.

If I superglue myself to something, it usually comes off pretty damn quickly, and i'm never joined to anything for very long, if ever.

The most damage i've done is slipping with my clippers and stabbing myself hard in the fleshy part where my hand starts to form the thumb; I could see blood, but it was faint and didn't react to anything, nor did it show up on tissue paper when I tested, so I must've only cut through the first few layers of skin at worst, and there's no visible damage left over.

I'm just awaiting the utter clusterfeth that this hobby will undoubtably throw at me in the future in an attempt to maim me.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

the Mothership...

My fav was when I picked up regular runny super glue and thought it was the thicker gap filling variety. Since I was gluing a part of the model I could barely see, I didn't realilze that the glue was running down the model and my fingers to the webbing between them and my knuckles. I learned two things that day... 1) Spraying glue accelerator on glue results in a very exothermic reaction. 2) The space between your fingers is quite sensitive to heat.

Years of metal/wood/leather craft gave me a tough leathery skin and naver got a bleeding cut with a hobby knife, but...

Once, making scenery, I used polyester putty (the one using in car's repair) for the texture, and forgot the can open, in the room, with the door and window closed.

Next morning I could almost smell colors and see odors >.<
