Well last night I get home after a 12 hour shift at work and open the door. The first thing I see is my fiance' and then I notice shes holding a package. Not just any package mind you, but my very anticipated package from Zinge Industries. I give Tonya a kiss then grab my package and run into my man cave giddy like a school boy. I open the package and find out Zinge sent me more then I paid for (KICK ASS BTW!) So now I super hocked up on excitement. My order was for 5 modern pistols (sent me 6 + a bag of goodies and miscastes), already knowing what I wanted to convert I grab my IG sarge pistol hand cut the pistol off leaveing the trigger finger and trigger guard, I then do the same for the Zinge pistol. Here is my mistake, I combine my two bits into an unholy fusion and while waiting for my glue to dry my hobby knife rolls of the table. I sit kinda bow- legged due to my stool being too short, so my knife bumps my calf and lands near the front of my foot. I immediately think "Thank god it didnt land point down on my foot!". Several minutes roll by when I start subconsciously scratching an itch on the back of my leg, at some point I rub my fingers together and feel something wet. I lift my hand up and discover this.
(See attachments)
Anyways Lesson is make sure your hobby knife is properly secured. Safety First.
Oh yeah, and there is a photo of the end result(Totally worth it, no pain no gain.)

It's an initiation rite. Right up there with, knocking a tiny pot of paint onto a carpet and somehow it covers 3sq metres within 2 seconds of hitting the floor.

I once shoved a exacto blade in my foot. I have hoping around the house with blood squirting out.
Dont worry man, it happens to us all. Just remember not to model in your underwear, it can get bad.

About a month ago, I managed to slice my thumb in the exact place I cut it about three months ago. Talk about precision!

Hobby knives I'm starting to suspect are evil, after all you use them to cut body parts off of little people to create frankenstein monstrositys perhaps that corrupts their morality?

It looks tame, so count your self lucky. I got pics floating around somewhere where I had to get 6 stitches in one finger from this hobby.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Done that, too. Worst accident I have had recently waa with my Dremel - trying to put holes in for pinning and wound up drilling into my fingers instead. Twice.

Gave up after that - could not see for all the blood.

When I was 11-12 I jabbed an exacto knife into my wrist while cleaning up some Hero Quest models. Mom was not nearly as amused as I was at the splattered blood on the walls from my room to the kitchen. That was the day that "always cut away from you" became a mantra for me

Since we are sharing finger accidents ill show you mine

I did this on top of a roof off a solar panel... note to all you cannot poke a sharp piece of aluminum. It sliced it right open including going under my nail, it might still fall off.

Lets see.....

Removed a chunk of my right pinky finger on a hot wire that was being used to cut foam for terrain. Did the same thing to my left arm about a month later when I was cleaning it off (a friend had used it and forgot to turn it off.)

Was scraping hot glue off of my hobby space (excess from terrain assembly.) The scraper slipped and went into my wrist (I was leaning over the table.)

Also, don't try to reassemble a rusty stapler after eating potato chips. You WILL put a staple through your finger. (It's hobby related; I was stapling together a 3rd ed. faq.)

5 stitches... Anybody that says 40k isn't hardcore doesn't know what the hell they're talking about...

I sliced open my thumb once, and I've done the typical "scrape, scrape, jab finger tip" kinda thing. Never anything more serious than a bandaid or a drop of superglue couldn't fix.

Now gluing my fingers together, that's different. I've had all kinds of bits and stuff mixed into a jumble of my fingers, with Cyanoacrylate at the center stage of that 1...

It's kind of related, but whats the worst accident where you have damaged a Model rather than yourself?

I would say actually accidentally dropping a Drop Pod down the stairs when I was carrying a box of stuff up stairs . Those things are really not designed to survive an impact with the floor, nevermind 7-8 steps as well. In model terms my 10ft high stair case is what 120" so scaled to marine 28mm = 2metres so rounding to 25mm = 2m it was dropped 240metres in scale terms. If it had been a old style forge world one, it would have put a hole in the stair case.
