The issue with ogres and magical attacks is that they don't have many options aside from characters to take magical weapons , while most other races have some champions able to do it.

And Firebelly has fireball. You never need to smack them with a magic weapon at all
You are almost correct Johnny but there are a lot of armies that can get magical attacks on non-infantry but still useful units:
Brets: Grail Knights, Grail Vow on Chars (Cav)
WoC: Chaos Knights (Cav)
Dwarfs: Warmachines, Anvil (ranged)
LM: Engine of the Gods (Monster, AoE)
VC: All Ethereals (swarms, infantry chars & infantry unit), all Screams (ranged)
Ogres: Yhettis ( MI) (ok not so useful)
HE: Amulet of Light (gives a bearer + the unit he is in magical attacks, usable on SM, PG, WL and Dragon Princes by way of unit champ!!)
Skaven: All the Warplightning stuff
Deamons: everything
Wood Elves: Lots
You mentioned every army except empire, so how do they have magical attacks??
Warrior Priests use Soulfire to hit enemy undead and give their unit Magical Flaming attacks. The Mage Engines are magical. I think that is pretty much it.
WoC also have Chaos Troll vomit. It's magical puke.
OT: Ogres are not the new Daemons. They actually have several weaknesses.

Yeah, but Goblin heroes are so dang cheap you can just spam all the 5 and 10 point magic weapons for under 200 points and get magic weapon protection on all your dudes.
Ogres have 3-4 characters at best.

Actually I left out more than Empire (thanks Tzeentchling)
O&G got mentioned: I know a bunch of players that now have cheap chars with cheap weapons since last Feb
DE has no ways to get magical attacks other than normal
Beastmen I don't know enough about but have heard same as DE
Tomb Kings have Skull catapult, Stalkers and the Casket
Point is Ogres are close to the bottom of the list dispite Firebelly and the unspoken unit (it starts with a Y, but don't say it, Grey Templar might be listening).

I don't know why we're beating this to death.
1. Magic attacks aren't common.
2. Ethereal units are vastly less common.
3. Pumpkins!
Read all the threads started by people about "can I make an all-ethereal army." Yes, you can. Will it work? Sometimes. Will it fail miserably? Sometimes.
Ogres have far far FAR more to worry about vs. mega spells than they do Ethereal mass.

Easily hit by save or die spells, and support spells, and generally things that support the enemy will hurt ogres
Which I pointed out, till someone had nitpicked my little list on ogre weaknesses.
