Considering 90% of the time you're only firing 3 useful weapons (meltaguns/plasmaguns/flamers) out of the hatch I don't see why they didn't just make it 3.

At least then it's not that big of a stretch to use the cupola since Guardsmen are a good deal skinnier than SM.

Although I do like firing 5 SB out of my Inquisitorial Chimeras...
