The fluff is there to support the game and the hobby, not the other way around!

I got sidetracked in a big way working on a scratch-built Warhound Titan project, but here are a few pics of the dreadnought model I converted several weeks back, and just finally got around to painting. The model has a detachable Assault Cannon that can be replaced with a second Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon and two pop-up Hunter-Killer Missiles.

Man, I recognized those at-43 walkers right away, but this dread is really fantastic. Shows some great skill on your part and also is such a better design than the stubby little original. Really good work all around, and very unique army!

The stuff is beautiful but all the mecha and vehicles strike me as IG not SM...

This is how GW should be making the space marines tanks....40k years into the future and they still move on trax? Excellent creativity! This is one of the most unique army's I have come across on Dak. The mech style tanks have been done perfectly, they are congruent with the original aesthetics and shape of space marine vehicles. Nothing looks out of place, great work keeping that cohesion of style consistent. The paint work also looks great....looks like airbrush. Your weathering is awesome, very realistic and definitely gives the vehicles a realistic worn look. Incredible work!

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress

Here is a pic of my Chapter Master in Terminator armor along with the Chapter Banner Bearer and a member of the Honor Guard.

I was trying to capture a grittier more field-weathered, battle-hardened look than your typical space marines. I love the Space Marine models but the feel of the Imperial Guard always appealed to me, so this army is my attempt to mesh those two aesthetics (and throw in as many giant robot-tanks as possible!). I never really worry too much about following GW fluff, I just convert the models I want to make and worry about rules and fluff later, if at all. My gaming group is pretty laid back, so no one really worries to much about fluff or WYSIWYG (as long looks reasonably good). If I was going to justify this army to fit in the 40K universe better, the back-story would probably have something to do with a Black Templar successor chapter that chooses all its recruits from a particular Imperial Guard force stationed on a Forge-World... Or maybe a Emperor's War-Bringers successor chapter with close ties to the Adeptus Mechanicus... 40K has done a good job of creating a universe with enough depth and richness to customise the hell out of your army and still hold true the fluff, for anyone who wants to take the time to research and write it out...

...but I'd rather spend my time converting and painting!
