Heavy weapon squads ANNIHILATE my Nids every time. Don't worry about power weapons, even flamers. Just cover the field in missile launchers and lascannons. Smaller squads with a heavy weapons team. A couple Russ with Battle Cannons.

You will stomp them as long as you can hit with even half your shots. Tyranids can't do a damn thing against a lascannon, and hit the big stuff HARD, overkill levels of overlapping fire. Lasguns will kill every Tyranid very easily with sheer volume of fire.

And here is a handy tip: DON'T MOVE. Just deploy with only a small amount space between units so dropping is a dangerous option. Spread your foot troops out as far as you can. Don't deploy as far forward as possible, make him work harder to get there.

Fleet worries you? Hardly any useful troops have fleet anymore, with Genestealers being the only ones to worry about.

My Trygons get at best one round of shooting against my buddy's Guard.

Deep strike? Gunned down (usually by massed lasgun fire).

Cross the field? Lascannons of missile launchers.

My Trygons are usually not even remotely worth the points I spend on them against his Guard.

(I use 1ksons, when I do get those bolters to wound it denies a save 90% of the time. And the 4++ helps with Force Weapons tend to make them formidable.

I like Chaos lords with DW of Tzeench.

2 Defilers (for redundancy, if you can)

A squad of Terminators (auto cannon,MoT for 4++, and 2 fists if you can).


Don't forget to prepare for swarms as well! More than once, I've taken down large squads of terminators just through weight of hormagaunt attacks.

That way you have strong templates for close together things and platoons to deal with the separate/spread out stuff (orders important here)


good pointer but the downside is that I don't have like 3 hellhounds yet and I don't have 2 Demolishers.
